Did you miss the whole dream sequence with Shojo? Belkar is very much still Evil. His alignment just shifted from Stupid Genocidal Evil to Smart Manipulative Evil. Frankly, I think that makes him far more dangerous in the long term.
Have ye never heard of Tricking someone into failing a saving throw?

However, there is nothing in the Mark of Justice spell description to suggestion it causes alignment change.

So, I'm left thinking this; Personal growth. Did Shojo like our favourite little psychopath, and decide to take steps to lengthen his life? (either pre Mark of Justice activation, or as a spirit while Belkar was near death). Shifting him from CE to CN would go a long way in that way (and make Belkar more tolerable and useful to the group, which only benefits the mission).

The fact of the matter is, unless we can take a look at Belkar's character sheet + secret DM notes, we don't know what his alignment actually is at this point. However, IMHO, he's acting more CN then 'CE with brain cells'.

'CE with braincells' ir still rather violent. Belkar is more 'smart ass' now.

More omnicidal than genocidal, really.
Belkar is Homicidal on a large scale. He only wants to kill when he feels like it, and he feels like it a lot. He doesn't want to kill large amounts of people or whole groups unless they all colletively piss him off.

683 up! And some action.

Something I didn't get until it was pointed out elsewhere; Roy's comment about Elan being a bottomless well of self reference is because Elan's half-camel comments refer way back to #87.

*wince* Yeah, I'm with V, protecting your brain from Elan is Self-Defense. At least V didn't include Elan *in* the Chain Lightning.

Heh, yet another reminded that that cat is pretty much the only living thing Belkar gives a damn about other than himself.

Don't screw with an adventurers animal companion.

Period.

That would go double if there's a druid on board. Though Rangers tend to do well with their animal companions too...

I don't know why but I find it odd that the insect men upon death get 'X's in their eyes, rather than the entire eye being replaced with an X like when other species get killed.

They've got compound eyes. Probably a minor gag based off that.

Hm...nothing special about this one. No great jokes (at least to me) and no shocking turn in the storyline - but at least the result is nice.

A nice quick gag supported by the title, nothing special, but a decent comic none-the-less.

I think its suposed to show us that Roy has chilled out somewhat after his trip to heaven. Afterall he got to meet his mother, grandfather and brother, found that hes defently going to heaven and made his peace with his father even if that peace was only to say I'm not listening to you any more. He may not remember it entirely but its enough to make him a generally happier person who can joke more.

Ha! That one was pretty good!

Still this comic was pretty much a victory for Roy, even with the whole spear stabbing bit. He rescued the prisoners right? Mission Accomplished.

I did, but I don't think that it will stay that way for long. I don't care what he is exactly, but he sure as hell won't stay alive as just a head.
