A family friend of mine has been growing and selling pot for at least the last twenty years and has never been caught. Another one has been growing and selling it and other harder narcotic since before my parents had even married, which was in eighty four. They get away with it because the rely on family and friends to spread word by mouth to people they can trust, it's a good 'ol boy network and it's why they're so fucking successful. Criminals do not succeeed unless they adapt to the strengths and weaknesses of the environment they operate in, not by being fucking retarded. These people have learned to foster their customer's sense of distrust in the government to great effect and avoid doing ANYTHING illicit in public. Yes, they're hillbillies, but again it doesn't take a fucking genius to figure out that killing a consensus worker up and making a message is counterproductive to their efforts. What the Hell is so hard to understand? I'm telling you this from my own experience LIVING WITH AND ASSOCIATING WITH BACKWOODS METHHEADS. Clay County, KY has only around ~4000 less people than the County I'm from, but it also has a population density twice as high, so my experience would not be all that different.

Zod is right. I mean its just like all this hyperbole over people saying that racists killed black people by lynching in the past. It was clearly the fact that these exclusively white people had been caught with overdue parking tickets by these black people. And they covered their tracks by taking photos and leaving them in the trees.

Not to say that methheads can't right-wing extremists. There's actually some serious overlap there in a lot of areas, like the Skinhead gangs.

"Fed" is generally shorthand for "FBI". Maybe they were scared at the thought of someone going door to door, thought he was an FBI agent and decided to do him in. We're not exactly talking about the brightest bulbs in the box here.

Wait a minute. Schatten is being unreasonable by suggesting that lynching a census worker and scrawling "Fed" on his chest is politically motivated (at a time where right-wing anti-government hysteria is at a fever pitch, in an area that's receptive to right-wing anti-government hysteria), but you're not being unreasonable by concocting some half-assed fairy tale about a hypothetical drug deal and hypothetical drug dealers who cover their tracks by lynching Federal agents and drawing national attention to themselves? Why would any drug dealer do that, rather than just dump the body in the woods somewhere?
