Well, that looks remarkably retro. I know theres a few people who are still not sure on the new bloke, but I'm remaining optomistic, from the small glimpses of the new set up we have seen.

Re: New Doctor Who logo revealed
Hmmm... Well I would like to say 'they changed it and now it sucks' but it doesn't look that bad. I can't imagining it spinning around in a time vortex in the opening credits though.
Re: New Doctor Who logo revealed
No more brass? That's a shame.
It's quite a good logo though. Will this mean there'll be a new Tardis set too? they both used the same style and colour scheme, so if one changes...

If they do change the TARDIS set, as long as they acknowledge a change has occurred in the show, I'll be happy.

They acknowledged the previous change in Time Crash, so I don't see why they wouldn't this time.Vympel wrote:If they do change the TARDIS set, as long as they acknowledge a change has occurred in the show, I'll be happy.

The DW thing can do the spinning around, before it stops and the DOCTOR WHO thing in retro font caps appears! I like it, it looks very 80s!

Re: New Doctor Who logo revealed
I think it has been rumoured that there'll be a new interior. I love the current one, but I'd quite like to see something in shiny steel that reflects this, or otherwise retro - one along the classic lines but done as a standing set with modern quality could also be very nice. I'm with Vympel though, I'd like to see it change on screen, preferably in a long shot in whatever montage he picks his new clothes.

Re: New Doctor Who logo revealed
I never really liked the "old" new logo, so I think this one is great: pretty much a modern interpretation of the original 1963-66 title.
If they did that I'd kind of like it if they changed the theme as well, if only because the orchestration is way too bombastic.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if they also changed the opening visuals to something just as retro.Crazedwraith wrote:I can't imagining it spinning around in a time vortex in the opening credits though.

I believe in a sign of Zeta.

Re: New Doctor Who logo revealed
I really liked the opening theme from S1 to S3. It got more annoyingly bombastic to me from "Voyage of the Damned" onwards. The 2005 logo was alright I suppose, it caught the eye and seemed akin to the Farscape logo, but I prefer the 2010 logo already and it seems more like the logo for the ill fated 1996 TV movie.Spanky The Dolphin wrote: If they did that I'd kind of like it if they changed the theme as well, if only because the orchestration is way too bombastic.

This is the best thing I've seen about S5.
At least I'll enjoy the first 42s?

No...the 1996 movie logo was a direct copy of the 1970 logo. The 2010 logo is like a modernization of the 1963 logo: it's got the same composition and proportions.Big Orange wrote:but I prefer the 2010 logo already and it seems more like the logo for the ill fated 1996 TV movie.

I can imagine the part on the left going through the vortex, but not the whole thing.Crazedwraith wrote:Hmmm... Well I would like to say 'they changed it and now it sucks' but it doesn't look that bad. I can't imagining it spinning around in a time vortex in the opening credits though.
The logo flying through the vortex is retro. It's been part of the Doctor Who opening since the '70s.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:I wouldn't be at all surprised if they also changed the opening visuals to something just as retro.Crazedwraith wrote:I can't imagining it spinning around in a time vortex in the opening credits though.

The 1970 logo, the 1996 logo (exactly the same font and proportions to the 1970 logo), and finally the 2010 logo (which seems to be a cross between the 1996 logo and 1963 one).Spanky The Dolphin wrote: No...the 1996 movie logo was a direct copy of the 1970 logo. Re: New Doctor Who logo revealed
I think this new version a considerable improvement over the former one (which i generally did not like).
