Pretty cool Helm.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...damn Tannhauser in all but giving up is now resorting to we've never seen it happen thus we really can't give any judgement.

Truly...something else.

And he's already judged us to be inferior because we aren't open minded enough to accept his limited ideas on transporters.

Oh yeah you've pretty much killed Tannhauser.

Now onto numbnut, SSJG1000...ah it's funny how he does try.

But nice stuff there, MoO.

funny that you brought this up. I used to debate SWvsSt under "gjdsj" at that GF board, but I don't now. I posted a few times in that topic. Nothing to to do with the debate though.

Angelblade's latest stupidity is trying the old worn out argument that the Pegasus asteroid was super denst (3000 times iron)
Angelblade wrote:The asteroid in which the Pegasus was entrapped in was made of a material that was incredibly dense, that they could destroy in using only the Photorps they had on board demonstrates just how powerful the Photrops are.

How big would you say the asteroid was? 5 kilometers? 10 kilometers? 100 kilometers wide? Believe the bigger the better for the side of Star Wars(why? quick hint, the force of gravity to the invers of the square of the distance from the source) and the end it doesn't matter.

Let's say 10 kilometers in diamter for the sake of saying.
And mostly hollow too right? Good...good.

Now then, the asteroid was unsafe for a shuttle to fly into because gravimetric shear inside to asteroid could prove it dnagerous to pilot. Gravimetric Shear? In an asteroid only 10 kilometers across? Mostly hollow?

We know shuttle craft can easily overcome at least 1g. So variations of even .1g shouldn't prove too hard for the shuttle's computer to compensate for. But let's say .1G for the hell of it.

So they take the Enterprise in. Picard says if the passage narrows to less than 500m he will take the ship out. Now the Enterpise is 470 meters across, giving 15 meters of leway on either side. Now 1G only accelerates at 9.8m/s^2, meaning the computer has more than a second to respond to any sudden shifts in gravity even if it were 9.8 m/s^2 . Of course Picard wishes to be cautious and also it could do with magnetic as well as gravimetric uncertainties in the asteroid, so we return to the shuttle craft.

Let's say that a shuttle should worry about .1g variations in acceleration due to gravity during it's flight in the asteroid. (it shouldn't) You know what this means? Well they were travelling down the the middle of the asteroid and gravity coming from around the asteroid cancels out at the center. (as in all massive bodies. And even if it dind't cancel out the shuttle can compensate. They aren't worried about the over all gavity of the asteroid, just the variations in the gravity the asteroid may have.) Meaning SMALL differences in the density of the asteroid causes the gravimetric differences.

I think you see what I am getting at, even if the asteroid was solid to produce .1g of gravity it would need a mass of what?

M = (g*d^2)/G
.1g = .98 m/s^2
d = 2500 m (10km wide, 5km to center, 2.5 km from center to half way to surface = 2,500 meters
G = 6.7×10-11 m3/(kg sec2) (Universal gravitation constant)

==> M = 9.14E16 KG

And how does this translate to the density of the asteroid? Well let's look at it this way. Say gravimetric difference come along once every 100 meters. Say the gravimetric changes are sudden (believe me subtle changes require even more density) and change is in the direction of travel for the shuttle craft. And here's a big HUGE assumption on in favor of Star Wars, I'll distribute the mass along an ENTIRE cross section of the asteroid, (i.e if the asteroid were spherical I'm taking a semicircle crosssection) not only a small portion, which would be the case.

So we get what?
Cross area volume = 100PI(r^2)/2

=> 3.9E9m^3 volume.

Meaning (after a huge favor for the SW side) this stuff has a density variation of 23 MILLION kg/m^3.

And that's not even the average density of the asteroid, that's just by how much the asteroid's density can vary/
Without the favor and saying the gravitmetric shear varies by shuttle side profile area we get 761 BILLON kg/m^3.

But I'll stick to the 23 million kg/m^3, I'll even say that's the average density of the asteroid.

For those who are still curious,that's about 3,000 times more dense than steel. And this is assuming a solid asteroid, which it isn't.

As material 3,000 times as dense as steel, indicative of Photon Torpedoes being in the kiloton range indeed.
I pointed out that such a dense monster would be a sphere and Zeloran responds with:

The restrictions are because we have so many trolls at GameFAQs. It is assumed that people with high karma won't cause these problems.

Shoot55 is their top dog? That's just pathetic. His arguments are laughable in their incoherency, and his unwillingness to debate in a responsible and rational manner, even when called, is horrible. I would have thought him to be a lower-mid level flame warrior.

Never mind, I invited them here. They will, no doubt, chicken out, but it's still a reasonable effort. If they ever start another thread on this subject there, inform me immediately so I can go over there and beat the snot out of them (and sense into them) from the opening post.

No sweat...and if you can post every once every seven days(if you get 75 Karma...silly thing but eh)

You can post unlimited.

A post usually lasts around 10-15 days before deleted...and each day you have an active one you gain a point.

It is best to make a post at a place like this becaue it will last 30 days. There is no off-topic rule for game boards on a system that has no top ten list.
