(Doctor Who) Things in The Doctor's pockets

Post by Darth Lucifer »

I've been watching random older episodes of DW and I began thinking about things in the Doctor's coat pockets. Here are just a few I remember seeing:

Jelly Babies of course
a spyglass
a map of Skaro
an apple core
a Batmobile toy
a yo-yo
a cricket ball

I'll leave it to the rest of you to form an inventory of things we've seen The Doctor carry with him over the years.

So I stare wistfully at the Lightning for a couple of minutes. Two missiles, sharply raked razor-thin wings, a huge, pregnant belly full of fuel, and the two screamingly powerful engines that once rammed it from a cold start to a thousand miles per hour in under a minute. Life would be so much easier if our adverseries could be dealt with by supersonic death on wings - but alas, Human resources aren't so easily defeated.

I think I remember Tom Bakers doctor putting a full cup of tea in his pockets at one time.

Tennant used 3D glasses to look at dimension shifting stuff in one of the season finales.

With all the stuff coming and going from his pocket it's almost like he has a minature bag of holding there. Or in his case subspace pocket or something.

Actually, he said 'They're bigger on the inside!' which is more explicit.

Also had those regular glasses that he pulled out whenever he needed to read something.

Only if you're stupid enough to think everything ever seen in his pocket is always in there.

By that logic I have thousands of dollars in change and five mobile phones in my pants right now.

I can't remember which episode, but I'm sure I've seen one where he has pulled out large numbers of items that could never all fit in an actual pocket at the same time.

In the Doctor's case, though, it's true that he has an analogue to a bag of holding in his pockets, and can do such things as put a full teacup in it only to pull it out, unspilled, after falling down, and during the 'Racnos' christmas special, he did explicitly say his pockets were 'bigger on the inside'

The logic is still bad, but the conclusion is sound based on other evidence.

And you think that's fucking relevant? He describes his outfit as magictech; so what? How does that mean he has all of this shit in there all time time?

He doesn't.
He's emptied his pockets on various different occasions, each time the inventory was different.

Case closed.
