Madden Question: Weight

Does weight actually come into play in Madden (console versions).

I have been playing it, basically since it's inception, and I remember that it used to be a useless number that only dictated the look of the player. Or at the very least, they did a piss poor job of instituting weight in an effective manner.
I recently started playing '09 and it seems that that weight still doesn't have any effect in the game i.e. 376lb defensive tackle being blocked by a 250lb full back just as easily as a 189lb defensive back.

Is this an accurate observation on my part? Also, if it is, does Madden10 address this issue?

Have you heard of "The Google"? I find it helpful in obtaining information of all kinds.

Tried it before I posted. Couldn't find the info I wanted. Maybe I wasn't inputting the right info.
