Maybe he would prefer living in Dickensian times, when someone like him would have probably died in debtor's prison.
I wonder if maybe he thinks declaring bankruptcy is better than using public health insurance because bankruptcy is a bad thing that messes up your life and therefore is an appropriate punishment or sacrifice. It's a fairly natural mindset that it somehow inherently helps offset the wrong done by unethical acts (he apparently seems to define using government money for your own benefit as such) if you suffer as a consequence of committing them. So I wouldn't be surprised if to his mind bankruptcy is more just because he suffers in the process.

He suffers? Ha! He's a commie scumbag. Debtors should be able to collect their debts by any means necessary! It's their money, after all, and he's hiding behind the nanny-state in order to avoid some of the personal responsibility he should show in this situation! How can somebody like that call himself moral?

See? His position is completely nonsensical. If he was morally superior, he'd work out his debts like a man or starve to death. Bankrupcy means he will get some of his debt anulled. How Communist is that?

Oh yes, he appears to be a hypocrite or to have inconsistent ethics*, which doesn't surprise me at all.

* Maybe both. I wouldn't be surprised if he coped with his own hypocrisy by redefining his ethics in an inconsistent way because he didn't want to deal with facing the fact that his entire philosophy of ethics is fundamentally broken.
