Wha? The Jedi ruled the Republic until TPM? When did this shit happen...well besides that particular book?
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

The supreme chancellor in TPM was Finis Valorum. Tarsus was his ancestor who was one of the first to take control of the republic after the Russan Reformation.
And this is why you don't watch anything produced by Ronald D. Moore after he had his brain surgically removed and replaced with a bag of elephant semen.-Gramzamber, on why Caprica sucks

ah, my bad. That's a dumb tie in though for the book.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.
Hit it.

And Star Wars is 32 years old, shit I was just four years old when this was released & Dad took me to see it (according to Mum it was hard to tell who had enjoyed it more)
My first memorable cinematic experience - the Tantive IV zipping along (enough of a wow factor in the 70's) followed by a freaking giganticollosal wedge bristling with bits that just kept going, throwing out lambent death accompanied by a floor, wall and ceiling shaking rumbling growl then finally we see the engines glide into view.
Utter silence broken only by the growl and the sound of several hundred jaws hitting the floor.
That's a pretty tough act to follow up.
So I stare wistfully at the Lightning for a couple of minutes. Two missiles, sharply raked razor-thin wings, a huge, pregnant belly full of fuel, and the two screamingly powerful engines that once rammed it from a cold start to a thousand miles per hour in under a minute. Life would be so much easier if our adverseries could be dealt with by supersonic death on wings - but alas, Human resources aren't so easily defeated.

Imperial Battleship, halt the flow of time!
