and i'm still waiting for some action or something exciting to happen. The battle scene in the first episode showed what they can do with up to date CGI, let's use it a little ok?

Dear god this show is boring me to tears. At least neo-BSG's first season had plenty of action in it, this show doesn't even have a recurring threat to fight.

Well, this was an interesting episode.
Spoiler
Rush finally snapped from overwork.

Eli seems to be spending most of his time trying to get records of the other crew members, where in my opinion it would be better if he helped Rush fix the problems with the ship.

Destiny seems to have quite the effective autopilot, coming out of FTL in such a way as to aerobrake in the atmosphere of a gas giant for an approach to the sun. Could it be intending to skim the solar atmosphere for a power recharge?

Those Kinos are gonna be trouble, what with the potential for voyeurism, as shown.
Well, well, what do we have here?

I was impressed with the respectable nod towards real science in the episode...tide-locked planets around a red dwarf, aerobraking...

We'll see what happens.

I do like that it's a direct continuation from episode to episode, too. Rush and Eli still have sunburns, that sort of thing.

Young is striking me as a lot dumber than he should be tonight :?

Nice little collection of possible mutineers so far eh?

So, lets waste juice on fucking with systems you dont have a clue, fuck with showers with only 91 tons of water (btw, my ship has about that much fresh water capacity, and we fill tanks every week, MAX); Jesus, what the hell kind of people is the SGC churning out now? I can see civilians being utter morons, but what the frak ? :wtf:

Pretty interesting stuff though, and not missing all the boom boom :P
Sure there be plenty of that in due course

Yeah. I mean, SG-1 and SGA both did serialization on occasion (ex. the initial Vala/Ori Introduction arc of Season 9), but I'm really digging that level of attention to detail. Overall, I really liked this episode, much more than the pilot. It's again, the anti-"Rising", but unlike Atlantis rising to the surface, Destiny's in serious trouble. And the Destiny predates the ATA Gene tech; interesting (and another nice nod to SGA). I don't mind the lack of gunfire every week or mustache twirling villains -- it's a nice break after 12 years of the same old, same old. One major nitpick -- enough with the fucking handheld camera shots. It was revolutionary when nBSG first did and now I'm fucking sick of it. Other than that, now things will get interesting as we're past the pilot.

Pretty sure it's the next episode that is called "water". So they still have the resource hunt on for at least one more week.

Oh OF COURSE lt. nipples is on her high horse, MAYBE she should have worn a bra before going through the stargate? Those things are like six pounds each!

I like the way Eli's character is being handled, because I have a feeling that resentment is already brewing against him from the red shirts for being the Favorite, yet he is condescended to by the officers. Everett is a douche to him because he dropped out of MIT. He's got something developing with Chloe but she ALSO had something going with Young.

it was dismissed as all just Rush having a nervous breakdown but I feel like there might also be some residual resentment for getting his ass kicked on desert world by Ford 2.0.

The enforced character helplessness of the back-up scientists was irritating. OF COURSE THEY WOULD THINK OF THE SHUTTLE! Its the only thing that had LIGHTS on. The fact that they didn't just seemed like writer's fiat for the purposes of making Rush seem more essential, and Eli productive for a few minutes.

Amusingly she actually is wearing a bra, you can see the straps when she turns her back

Totally agreed here. But you mean Scott

Disagreed here, Eli obviously thinks outside the box and has adapted to this situation better than most... which is why he's becoming a favourite. He's not still shocked and is in fact relishing it. Everyone else is seemingly still struggling to get their head round the situation and are distracted by that.

Chloe and Eli's relationship is good at the moment, but it's obviously a Eli's got a crush and Chloe thinks he's just being helpful because she has a crush on Scott who will sleep with anything with tits because he can't control himself inspite his Catholic upbringing job. I just hope they pull it off well, the set up is decent enough.

Oops I failed the Bra Check. I will review, and carefuly scrutinize the footage to see where I went wrong.

And yes. I Meant Scott.

Eli might not have adapted as well as you think. I just read the Gateworld bio which clarifies that he is a complete genius who instantly succeeds at what he does but has self esteem issues. I would still avhe liked them to demosntrate his isntant genius by ahving him be an isntant genius isntead of having him come up with the two most obvious ideas on the show. I'm actually surprised they didn't ALREADY have Keno's flaoting around the uninhabitated areas of the ship. That seemed like it would be the plan as soon as they discovered them?

Eli might appear well adjusted because he is not flipping out on people but this stuff piles up. For one thing he seems insistent that everyone document their thoughts because "When they die, nobody will know who they are" So rather than face that issue himself he is plunging himself into documenting everyone elses feelings. if the writers are doing waht I think they are doing, they are illustrating a situation of transferrence.

For another thing he is CONSTANTLY being put in situations he doesn't know how to handle and treated like an authority that he does not feel confident being. Rush puts special confidence in him, Col. Young seeks to groom him as a leader, the congregation of ninnies considers him an "Insider" When, Eli is NOT sure what he's doing with the ship all the time, FAILS at leadership and does not avhe the answers people want him to give them.

He's gonna crack. He was MADE to crack. We as the audience will experience the Dire Circumstances, by identifying with him know and seeing him crack later.

Although that is probably true, on the ship it's all about perceptions. At the moment Eli appears to be coping, the others aren't. No reason he can't have his breakdown after a couple of months of pressure.

That was my first though as soon as I saw the first shot of them approaching the solar system. My 2nd though was that Destiny decided to go skinny dipping in the gas giant because it intended to harvest it for hydrogen or something like that, but I guess the sun was the more obvious power source.

Oh hell no. You had your 12 years of fighting alien-of-the-week, so how about you go watch some reruns while everyone else will get to enjoy a nice show, eh?

There WILL be aliens to fight-or-flight against later, trust me on this. Or... you know, trust the interviews with the cast and crew... whatever.

I was just thinking today that the Destiny might draw its power from suns it passes. I envision it releasing a swarm of probes toward the star, which take up equidistant positions and make it disappear in some kind of cloaking field, projecting vast energy beams to the Destiny to recharge it.

I ask again. What kind of chickenfuck assholes is the SGC recruiting these days? Greer looks like soldier supreme posterboy in comparison to the room full of "intimidate the fat nerd" comspiracy fucks. I mean come on. Yes this is a fucked up situation. Yes this means you are stranded far from home.

YES YOU SIGNED UP FOR THE FUCKING SGC YOU MORONS!

I liked the ATA gene reference. Makes me wonder if the gene and corresponding technology was created as a failsafe against the Wraith and eventually became a core feature of all of their technology.

Unlikely. The chairs seem to predate such things. Witness Proclarush Taeonas. Likely they started with the Gene stuff when they made humans. Don't want humans hurting themselves.

Well, it could be worse. They could be trapped in the event horizon of a black hole like SG-10.

That would make sense given the origin of the Wraith. It may even have been in response to the the Wraith's capture of those ships and their ZPM's as Todd outlined in "Spoils of War".

Great episode of what is turning out to be a pretty good show. They are overdoing some of the drama; we know Rush is in a panic over the power and is insufferable, they don't need to show it six times in a row.

Other than that, good stuff. I'm loving the music and the visual look of the series, especially in the last few minutes.

Eli said the "showers" don't tap into the main reserves, so I guess the mist is some sort of chemical mix that can't be purified into drinking water.
