Force FX Lightsaber issues

Post by Darth Fanboy »

With halloween coming up and a couple of family members donning Star Wars costumes we decided it would be fun if we call got out our Force FX lightsabers for a little fun after having not used them in a while. to our great dismay of the four we own only one of them (mine thankfully!) works properly. Two of them have no light whatsoever and the sound effects are completely haywire and another works fine save for the "blade contact" sound effect.

Does anyone know where I can find a good repair tutorial or any kind of assistance on fixing these things? These were all presents purchased years ago and there is no life left in the warranty.

Which generation does yours belong to? Are the batteries new?

You might want to check with Master Replicas (if they still exist) if they can be repaired or something.

First generation, a battery replacement didn't solve anything but I'm going to try a replacement with newer batteries just to double check.

Ah.. the first generation. If I recall, they still used the fluorensce tube. That might be a problem because those won't last too long under prolonged usage.

And the company stopped renewal of its Star Wars license. Pretty smart move I would say, given the slow toning down of the franchise.

The thing is though is that the two sabers where the blades do not work, are the least used of the ones experiencing issues.

Slight off topic... What is the name of the company that picked up the licensing? I tried Google, but it is no help.

LEGO's licence for Star Wars was from 1999 to 2007 - then it was extended to 2011. And given how well it sells, I'll be very surprised if they don't further extend it - from 2008 they've been not only releasing sets of movie things, but also EU sets, with Clone Wars stuff making up the bulk.

It's significnatly more mainstream and profitable than EPIC NERD stuff like Master Replicas, however. Kotobukiya (spelling?!) stuff is cool too.
