Man, it seems like I've set up shop in and around a very high-demand area. Let's sort some stuff out, then...

Well, Bluewolf just said I could have Zhuhai, so that's that, I suppose. You'll still have your basing rights there, don't worry.

Brunei and Sabah have already been claimed by me. If you want territory in Borneo, though, I'm perfectly willing to give you at least one of the Kalimantan provinces (would South Kalimantan suffice?).

And I'd love to ask the same of the mods, because that's what Beowulf proposed instead of a Russo-Manchurian war in the early 1900s, and frankly to me it makes no sense other than just trying to avoid a pre-written conflict with Russia or something.
Is it not the prerogative of the state creator to decide with which states a nation be hostile and with which it be friendly? Especially if it has conflicting territorial claims? I want to clear this question, because I don't like pre-written treaties, port leases or such stuff either, since that makes it as if the Russian Empire politicially accepted the Manchurian claims of Beowulf.

Dunno who has Zanzibar, though frankly I think it'd be logical for Bean to have it as part of Britain's web of ports and naval bases worldwide.

There's no jet bombers and nukes. The fastest transport is by train. Because of the colonial nature of most powers it takes weeks to respond anyway. So no I don't see speed being an issue unless you post once a week. And if you do. Try not to piss anyone off..

Okay, for Borneo I see claims by Shinn and Thanas, with Zor via PM wanting some naval bases.

Shinn, I know you're letting Thanas have a piece of Borneo, but what was your response to the idea of Japan claiming a naval base, perhaps on the northern end not far from modern Sabah?

Japan will not have any bases on SAU territory, at least not at the start of the game. If things go well, though, maybe the Japanese can receive basing rights in Sabah in the near future.

So basically you're saying the SAU owned the rest of Borneo from the start or that it took it from the Dutch during the fall of the DEI, perhaps in a period when Japan wasn't looking to expand?
Also, I notice East Timor is still open. I'm inclined to give it to Portugal for the moment but if anyone would like to claim it it's open.

Considering the rather tenuous hold the Dutch had over all of Indonesia throughout the 19th century, a Philippine/SAU takeover of the entirety of Borneo during the fall of the Dutch East Indies sounds perfectly plausible. All I need to know is exactly when the Dutch decided to bug out of the area first before I go around rewriting my history.

Speaking of the fall of the DEI, I want to set that at about 1880, coinciding with the Netherlands losing to Dutch Trade Unionists and Belgian supporters.

Hrm, i suppose an ambitious Cascadia could've quickly snatched Sulawesi and the North Moluccas in the chaos, perhaps the beginning of Cascadia's direct imperial ambitions on Asia aside form just maintaining its hold on Australia and setting the stage for the coming colonial dispute with Germany (which has been solved, I'll add).
Anyway, I know someone claimed Vanuatu but I don't remember, also, Wallis & Futuna, Tonga, and Tuvalu are all unclaimed, as are various atolls the US and British claimed and still hold (though some of the Brit ones went to New Zealand). I'm thinking I hold Palmyra, Johnson, and a couple others along the path from Hawaii to Australia.

Since the world has been pretty well gerrymandered at this point, would it be prudent for us to get a history thread going so we can get the general thrust of how history is altered and where the world stands as of 1925? We still have things to work out like what the analogue (if there is one) for WWI will be and the complex relations that Europe always has.
