While Starship Troopers could have been a lot better, it's not that bad as many people make it out to be. At least it's better than Showgirls, which definately is the worst movie Verhoeven has made.

However, Verhoeven also made some rather good films such as Robocop and Basic Instinct, so he's not totally incompetent.[/i]

I'm gonna have to disagree with you there, Robocop and all other films following it were crap. They had so much potential to them and....well I was quite frankly dissapointed!

I can't believe we all forgot Tim Burton!

The man is a directorial genius.

Ridley Scott also did this stylie commercial for Chanel in the 70's--you should check it out.

And Bill Paxton was awesome on Frailty. I compare him to M. Night Shyamalan, only way better--not so overbearingly film-studentish. What's funny is the little "Bill Paxton ego-stroke" in the special features.
I have being given A's for depleting Dragon ball Z the way it should be.

*cough*SCORCESE*cough*

*cough*KUROSAWA*cough*

*cough*WES ANDERSON*cough*

Well, that third one's just one of my personal faves, but shame on you for not including Scorcese or Kurosawa.

PS What the fuck were you thinking including Mel Brooks? Who's your dealer and what's his number?

I just realized that your poll also doesn't have David Fincher on it. Aside from Alien 3, which sucked major donkey cock, he's a badass. With Alien 3 rightfully excluded, Panic Room is his worst offering, and that wasn't that bad, especially not from a directorial standpoint.

They're not my favorite, but I certainly like most of the Coen brother's work.

Ok, if some people go back to my first post, I've said I couldnt include everyone I wanted cause the poll was limited, but below I put of list of other directors and also excused myself because I knew I'd have missed obvious directors off the list. So I apologise.

And yes Alien 3 did suck major donkey cock, read the original script, it's brillaint.

I voted Kubric. But my choice for "where the hell is?"- Alan Parker. Pink Floyd the Wall, Birdie, Mississipi Burning, The Commitments.....
