Death Star I vs. Borg

Post by Kurgan »

Scenario: You are Grand Moff Tarkin, in command of the DS I, sometime prior to "A New Hope."

Vader is on the other side of the galaxy conducting some other business and so he isn't available.

Somehow Borg ships have managed to get close enough (Let's say perhaps the DS was pre-occupied with blowing up big asteroids in a drill or something and didn't see them sneak in) to beam their drones aboard and they begin an invasion.

What would you do?

It wouldn't have happened

The borg wouldn't be able to beam through the DS shields in the first place.

They can't beam in through death star shields. In addition they'd be totally blown away by the Death Star's Turbolaser batteries.

The scenario is that they've already started appearing onboard. Maybe they came in through a hull breach from one of the asteroids?

Who cares. But you don't have that luxury! C'mon.. this exercise shouldn't be hard. ; )fd

For the sake of aurgment lets say they get aboard,
They are facing a completly new Computer system which REQUIRES Passwords that are changed every day and you can't circumvent without physical intervention in a rather highly guarded area

I'm really far more interested in the battle (if any) that takes place INSIDE the station.. forget about the ships.

Every debate will end before it begins if we just say "well the death star blows up everything, the end" we're INSIDE now.. what's the next step?

E-11>Borg. Stormie>lurching zombie. Blast door>anything the Borg could possibly muster. Imperials take this without breaking a sweat.

Sorry Bean, quick reply. ; )

What sort of tactics would you use? Han and Luke didn't get far in their stolen Trooper gear, how would the Borg fare?

Use Stormies to clear out unprotected personnell from infested areas and contain the invasion, then slam down the blast doors, seal the compartments where the Borg are, and flood them with nerve gas.

Subterfuge is unknown to the Borg. They'll lurch outward from their entrypoint and the first stormie who seems them will sound the alarm. At that point they'll be swiftly isolated, all avenues of further advance cut off by blast doors and E-Webs. From there on, it's a simple clean-up operation. They can move in and clear out room by room until they find the Queen and kill her.

Alternatively, if they would rather risk equipment than men, they could take a cue from my fanfic, bring a few TIE bombers around, and blow up the section they're in from the outside, thus venting them out into space.

Stormtroops would mow them down. The Borg can't adapt to blaster and the move really slow while troopers tend to run really fast. besides, they look cooler.

The only reason the Federation has trouble with the borg is because they're idiots. Any army with projectile weapons could easily take out the borg, even bows and arrows, spears, slings, etc.

Could a TIE bomber punch through the Death Star's armor belt?

Stormtroopes would be overkill. The naval troopers could take this with baseball bats.

Hell a couple pro boxer's would own the Borg.

Even if the borg somehow assimilate a few people, the stormies will not lose much sleep over gunning them down as well.

Shit, they might not even notice for a few weeks if the alarm weren't sounded. Unless we're talking billions of Borg, it will be a very long time before they start to threaten the station.

IIRC, they were damaging the surface city stacks, not the main armored shell of the station. Then again, the Borg probably couldn't beam through that, anyway.

They would be noticed right away. Borg drones would be rather obvious on the Death Star, and virtually everyone carries a comm-link either on their belt on in their helmets. They would be immediately identified and confined to a small area, prior to being hunted down and exterminated.

Why is it assumed that they will have enough power or room to carry a shield generator which will actually get the job done?

They use sheild to stop phaser hit when they adapt to that frequency, so it could happen, but it won't. So I guess you're right Mike.

Its easier to stop an energy beam than a plasma blast.
