Updated story:
Orlando, Florida (CNN) -- A suspect in the Orlando, Florida, shootings has been apprehended at his mother's home on the east side of the city, Mayor Buddy Dyer said Friday.
One person has died and five are wounded after the shooting spree, which occurred on the eighth floor of a high-rise office building, Police Chief Val Demings said.
"The information we have is that the victims were all employees of one company," Dyer said.
The wounded victims were all in stable condition, he said.
Demings said the gunman appears to have acted alone. "From the briefing I'm aware of it was one lone gunman," she said.
Public records indicate that the suspect, who has been identified as Jason Rodriguez, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in May and that the case was discharged in September.
A woman who answered the telephone at Price Law Firm in Orlando confirmed that lawyer Charles Price represented Rodriguez, but would not offer any details.
Fire Commander Vicki Robles said earlier authorities had been searching for Rodriguez, who formerly worked for Reynolds Smith and Hills in Gateway Center in Orlando.
A spokesman for Reynolds Smith and Hills, a facilities and infrastructure consulting firm, said a former employee let go for performance issues came in Friday morning "and started shooting."
Mike Bernof said the employee, whom he did not name, was let go in June 2007.
Bernof provided no other details.
Police cordoned off the area as SWAT teams searched the 16-story building while a sheriff's department helicopter circled overhead.
The office tower, which is adjacent to the Sheraton Orlando Downtown hotel, lies beside Interstate 4 and Lake Ivanhoe on the northern edge of downtown.
Authorities received a report shortly before noon ET of a shooting on an upper floor of the high-rise, said John Tormos of the Orlando Fire Department.
So, disgruntled former employee, yadda yadda.
Only thing odd about that, it was 2+ years ago, if the facts are correct. Guess the shitstain held a really long grudge, or perhaps the bankruptcy pushed him over the edge. Still, even that was months ago.
