I am sick of seeing the same recycled Trek actors!

On tonight's episode of ENT (yes, it sucked), the supid Wayoon Vortra actor was once again playing the role of one the Andorians. Remember when we saw Neelix play a Ferengi? The list goes on...

Why do we have to see the same actors playing these roles? Wayoon made a terrible Andorian! This show is getting worse.

This happens frequently in more then just Star Trek. The Law & Order series had Jerry Orbach play a defend attourney before joing the series. One particular actor (the father from the first two home alone movies) has played 3 different characters in three different episodes.

The guy who plays Wayeun also played that Ferengi Brunt. The character who played Quark showed up in the first TNG episode to feature the Ferengi. Marc Alimo (Gul Dukat) played a different Cardassian in that species first apperance. The actor who played Tuvok was two seperate characters, one in Generations (E-B bridge officer) and one in TNG (criminal on the ship). The actress who played Ro Laren showed up earlier in the series. Majel Baret Roddenberry has played the first officer of the original enterprise, two different computer voices, and Ambassador Troi.

Not exactly an uncommon event in Star Trek.

Don't forget the Romulan commander from "Balance of Terror" being Spock's father Sarek. They didn't even change the fucking makeup or anything; it's the same exact guy. They seem to derive some kind of sadistic pleasure out of making it as difficult as possible to suspend disbelief.

Mark Leonard has played just about every major alien in ST. He was the Klingon captain in TMP.

And Tom Paris and Nicholas Locarno (Wesley Crusher's hotshot commander in his squadron at the Academy who got them to do the illegal manuever in "The First Duty") are the same guy. Hell, they are practically the same character.

I think it's slightly more acceptable when the same actor plays two different species, because he looks different. But Tom Paris/Nick Lecarno and the Romulan Commander/Sarek are cases where the two characters look COMPLETELY identical. It's fucking unacceptable.

At least with Romlan Commander/Sarek, they had completely different personalities. Tom Paris is just Nick Locarno with a new name.

IIRC, Tom Paris was originally supposed to be Locarno himself, but they were so worried they wouldn't be able to get him (or something like that) that they decided instead to create the character Tom Paris.

It's still stupid. Even if they hadn't gotten Duncan McNeill (is that his name?) back, they still could have used the Locarno character with a different actor. I mean, they changed the Saavik actor between TWOK and TSOS, they sure as hell could get away with using a different actor than was seen for one episode several years prior on TNG.
