I picked the Y-wing (BTL S3), I think having someone to cover your six on bombing runs and dogfights would be a huge advantage.

I went X-wing. Though I considered the B-wing, I've heard mixed accounts of its performance in prior discussion on these forums. Its definitely better armed, but it would presumably have to have sacrificed some mobility.

The X-wing has a good mix of power, durability, agility, and range. There's a reason its the Alliance's signature starfighter.

Though, I think most of us will agree that were it on the list, a Tie Defender would probably be best. ;)

What's the situation? Is it a choice between a poorly maintained, no-torps rebel X-wing on another suicide mission, or a TIE on a port patrol route? If it's for personal use, obviously jump capability is important.

I prefer a TIE Interceptor in wartime. An excellent fighter with no missiles to dilute it's purpose or lead to suicidal capship attacks, and being Imperial you might even get rescued after ejecting since you're not on a hit-and-run attack.

I went with the Tie Bomber because I have fond memories flying in it as Imperial Ace of Aces Maarek Stele who was known to favor the Tie Bomber because of its more durable design and the payload it could carry.

The X-wing will do fine for me. Nothing says 'subfighter' like 'X-wing'.

B-Wing. Heavier weapons and armor for my not-so-leet piloting ability. All you X-Wing pilots can cover my ass while I bring some pain to the larger ships.

X-wing since there was no TIE Defender option.

Where's all the prequel fighter love? I picked a TIE Interceptor, since it is the sexiest of the ones on the list, but I'd rather have the Delta-7 Aethersprite.

Gota be the B wing (with the Tie defender not being present)

Good range of weapons excellent fire power + with later versions there was a second gunnery seat.

A little less manoeuvrability but enough to get by. All around a good fighter bomber though not as multi purpose as an X wing it has allot more punch and I do so love explosions

TIE Interceptor, best fire control and search radar, superb maneuveribility, adaquate power to knock out every other snubfighter and no useless dead weight like a hyperdrive.

A-Wing, as long as I can have the MkII which had the reliability problems fixed, and a reasonable amount of flight training before I have to go into combat. It has extreme speed, maneuverability and jammers to avoid taking fire, and some shielding in case those fail. It has standoff missiles and laser cannons that can shoot downwards or backwards if needed. Plus most of its missions are recon or hit+fade rather than heavy dogfighting or capship assaults, so chances of survival should be better.

Voted X-Wing. Despite simply looking the coolest. It is the best 'balance' option. Speed, manoeuvrability, firepower and durability.

Voted TIE Interceptor.

Oh and Noog, the TIE/ln (lowercase L) is the one you were thinking of, the TIE/In (Uppercase I) is the Interceptor.

B wing as well for my personal use, although I like the idea of an A wing slash clearing the way for some Y wings escorted by B Wings.

I'm a sucker for the A-wing. Fast in, fast out, tear it up against TIEs. And shields to cover my butt when I (inevitably) screw up or lose my wingman.

The B-wing is just too big for my flying style, the Y-wing is too slow, and the X-wing, well, that's what recruiting-poster heroes fly: not for me.

The TiE interceptor is the best choice. Faster than almost any opposition and enough firepower to blow up X-Wings. In the movies fighters dont tank shots for 5 minutes. They blow up with one or two good hits so its extremely crucial to not get hit. The interceptor rocks at this and at same time has excellent weapons to land hits of your own. Furthermore the interceptor is deployed from star destroyers so you would always count on formidable backup from the mothership.

In Order of Preference:

Missile Boat (Good luck with that...)
Tie Defender
X-Wing
Starwing Assault Gunboat

Missile Boat - I'll just SLAM my way out of danger, thank you. With Beam power directed into the Engines, thank you. (300 or so Megalights, 3xs the speed of an X-wing). I also like the idea of lobbing 40+ warheads at someone.

Tie Defender - if you remove the 'wank' stuff from the Missile Boat, I'll take the Tie Defender out of all Star Wars fighters. Those things are mind-blowingly dangerous. Transfer Beam power to the Engines, and you can outrun just about anything.

lol. Thats cheating Solauren.

A missile boat or a skipray blastboat is a fighter in the same way powered armor is infantry.

For the TIE Fighter you used abbreviation TIE/In, with the first letter being a capital I when in fact the abbreviation is ln, with a lower case L. Which stands for 'Line Fighter'

Among the listed ones, I picked the TIE Interceptor. Fast, agile, heavily armed for dogfights, and always well backed up. But if it was on the list, the Defender would be my choice.
