I'm talking about in terms of international etiquette between people of rank, not Japanese etiquette. Note that Putin doesn't show one inch. It was okay when Nixon bowed in the proper manner and it was reciprocated, even if it wasn't what we'd consider truly appropriate etiquette between leaders.
