Of course, but why make the starting rules make no sense? I can understand simplicity but counting totals would be far more simply than counting a specific unit type.

Sure, but it will allow you to tank-ify more infantry divisions per the overall number of infantry divisions, than a person without cavalry units could. To be honest, perhaps it does make some sense. I'll leave that to Steve's judgement.

True, but it is only natural that a greater portion of my infantry be motorized if the rest of my forces are ineligible to have tanks attached.

Makes sense, might also make sense to have some cavalry for those areas as well then. xD

The Freedom conference seems to be petering out a little bit, but a lot of people who said they've sent delegates haven't spoken up yet. There does seem to be support for the anti communist Interpol type agency and some movement towards a defense pact, or at least a agreement to "do what you can" for those attacked by communists.

Also as the conference is in unreal time, would we be able to see Stas's provocations at the conference? They'd make good fodder for Morales as he tries to push treaties through.

Hmm, the Lincoln Brigades are forming, I see.

If they haven't spoken up, assume they are just among the head-nodding crowd. The Freedom Conference has pretty much made it's mark, and for better or worst come across publicly as a Nationalist/Capitalist Rally with a few racial undertones.

In other words, history appears to be proceeding pretty much as normal.

The delegates from the Bolivarian Union probably would not want to be noticed too much, since they would be slamming their own home country, a country that is only minutes away.

Realistically the conference might still be ongoing. It was called in January but logically wouldn't start until March-April due to the need to prepare and to give delegates time to travel to Buenos Aires. And it's something that would last a month or two.

Perhaps the sudden spike in Soviet-Manchurian tensions extends the conference's meeting time?

Germany has made her position clear. We will not join in any pact that has the goal of attacking communist nations, but we will cooperate in intelligence sharing against communist infiltrators that try to illegitimately overthrow governments.

What's the status of Benito Mussolini about this time? He was coming to power in Italy in OTL.

Raesene has quite the interesting storyline for him, as do I for Hitler and his loathsome ilk.

A note - I am going to send some reinforcements to the far east, but I do not have time to make up a storypost now.

However, the reinforcements sent will be substantial, they will be based in Tsingtao, Dar-es-Salaam (the squadron assigned to convoy protection) and probably Flores/Borneo as well.

I'll be writing more tomorrow but I hope this gives you an impression of how Brazil works and looks etc, etc.

Incidentally I will not be participating directly in any war in the far-east, volunteers and IBPs is as far as it'll go for now. That said I hope that other socialist republics will be good enough to send support as well, can't have the capitalists overrunning Siberia! But more about that in upcoming story posts.

Stas:

Does the Soviet Union use the same gauge railway as it historically used? (1524mm/1520mm)? And why would there be a rail way between Russia and Manchuria? You stated yourself that there's not much trade between us. Even if for some reason we had rails going to near the same location, it'd still probably end up bridged by a pedestrian or cart bridge, not a rail bridge. (Especially since all the declared borders between us are either rivers or mountains.)

Note (and Demetrios and/or Raj Ahten can answer this) I am assuming that there is in fact trade between Brazil and the Cisplatines / Chiletinans, certainly I'd be buying grain from Chiletina unless there's pressing reasons why I shouldn't. Thus even though I don't trust them there are railway connections going into Cisplatine territory and the Paraguay river linking me with Chiletina. Of course if there's a war any bridges and railways might experience... technical difficulties.

In short it makes some sense that there'd be railway links between the two, but it'd also make sense that you'd have them rigged to blow and/or have extensive defences around them.

I'll work up some replies here before too long; been oddly busy today at work. I guess folks are trying to get everything sewed up before the holiday.

And what of attaching tank battalions at tech 4? Also I pressume the 20 per every 2 divisions is the starting force? How we build more?
Building more Infantry Divisions with the 20 support Tanks could just be a form of purchasable Infantry Division say, "Infantry Division w/ Tank Support" 5 Points? "Infantry Division w/ Vehicular Transport and Tank Support" 12 Points? There could be a system for adding Tank Support to existing Divisions through an upgrade cost or the like as well. Perhaps 2-3 points.

Now, I'd like to know if the Starting 1/3, 1/2 ratio of attached Tank Support carries over to our starting Reserve Divisions. Does it?

I'll think on a cost for adding a tank support unit to infantry, will likely be 2 points though.

Sounds good to me, but what's the word on starting Reserve Infantry Divisions and Tank Support? Should one just assume the same ratio and equip our Reserve Divs accordingly?

I suppose so, with the caveat that reservist formations should have older tanks.

Alrighty, Spanish Renault FT 17 analogues for the Lighters and Mk.IIIs-Mk.Vs for the Heavies it is, then. Same 1/3 ratio with the heavies as a quarter of that number.
