How many multi-episode characters died in Star Trek?

How many multi-episode characters died in Star Trek?
Ok, how many characters that
-appeared in more than one episode
-had a name
-and were not brought back to live
died in all of Star Trek?
I guess there are not many examples, so i guess there is no need to watch every epsiode.
But i am curious, because not a single example comes to my mind (but then again, i watch Trek quite irregulary).

TOS: Lt. Galloway, phasered by Capt. Tracy on planet Omega IV ("The Omega Glory"), later reappeared in the series as Lt. Johnson ("Day Of The Dove", "Turnabout Intruder")

Also: Eddington, Damar, major Hayes, corporal Hawkins, admiral Forrest, Talas, Mila, Gowron, Director Sloan, Muniz, Jonas, Masaro,...
There's more of course, but that requires digging through the episodes. All of them had named appearances in two or more episodes before dying.

Re: How many multi-episode characters died in Star Trek?
Well, certainly interesting. I could not recall a single character dieing who was not a oneshot.
But apparently, quite a lot of these seem to be villains - or am i wrong?

Re: How many multi-episode characters died in Star Trek?
No, you're very wrong. Of the ones listed above, only the Duras sisters, Seska, Khan and Sloan were villains - you can add Suder and Damar if you want to count former villains-redeeming-themselves.

Man, this guy got shafted broadway-style. First he was demoted due to politics, then gets framed, slaves away in the lower decks for seven years before getting killed a few short months before they wound up making it home. What a tragedy.Crazedwraith wrote: Carey on Voyager

Re: How many multi-episode characters died in Star Trek?
Ghetto edit: quite a few of them are murky characters. Gowron was not really a villain for most of the show's run, but he did become an antagonist of sorts later on. Damar was on the antagonists' side, but he became an ally later on. Suder's a homicidal psychopath but he did make an honest effort at improving himself and died to save others. Masato was a regular redshirt who got suckered into terrorism and blew his brain out. Eddington was doing the wrong thing for noble reasons.
If you grew up on TNG, you wouldn't notice many recurring characters that had enough of an arc to actually die. DS9 and to a lesser extent ENT were drowning in them, though.

Let's not forget KOR: THE D'HAR MASTER.
I don't know how they could make an off-camera death awesome, but they did.

There's also:
Ziyal
Enabran Tain
Ghemor
Kai Opaka
Vedeck Bareil
(All from DS9)
You'd probably find the most examples in DS9, since that show had the most continuity going on.
Jennifer Sisko possibly counts too: she's certainly seen in a fair few episodes, but they were all posthumous. I wouldn't count her as being brought back to life, though, unless you count Mirror Jennifer.

Also Kang and Koloth. Who appeared in TOS then reappeared in DS9 to Die. Kor survived that team up but went on to appear a couple more times; finding to sword of Khaless and then later going old and senile and dying in glorious battle against the Dominion.CaptainChewbacca wrote:Let's not forget KOR: THE D'HAR MASTER.

(one of them [kang?] Also appeared in 'Flashback' fighting Excelsior around about ST6 time)

Probably the best send-off they ever gave to any one character.

TNG example; Cadet, and later Ensign Sito Jaxa. A cadet on a good career track who suddenly falls victim to the arrogance of a peer; redeemed herself through death.

Spock died and came back to live and thus is prohibited by the OP.
Kirk never died; he just went to the nexus.

And there certainly never was any incidents involving bridges.

Re: How many multi-episode characters died in Star Trek?
I meant he never died before the whole bridge thing. Whereas Spock died then came back for more. Which means we can't count him because the OP specified only dead people who stayed dead.open_sketchbook wrote:And there certainly never was any incidents involving bridges.
Re: How many multi-episode characters died in Star Trek?
Sort of up in the air, but what about Gul Dukhat? Did he really die? Or just go to hell or some nonsense? It's been awhile since I last saw the DS9 finale.
A stretch here, but Changelings impersonating main/recurring characters could also be thrown in. Martok had been replaced by a Changeling (we actually meet this version before the real one) until his death. Bashier was also replaced by a Changeling for several episodes, that eventually bought it.

Re: How many multi-episode characters died in Star Trek?
another minor nitpick, but I don't think Sloan ever said he was the director of Section 31 did he? as an aside I have a friend who doesn't think he died in "extreme measures", and it's funny cause she hates him where as he's one of my favourites in DS9 along with Garak and I had no trouble accepting his death. , I could so see Section 31 turning out to be Imperial Spies
Re: How many multi-episode characters died in Star Trek?
Oh, and if we want to count people in flashbacks, Kira's father appears in two episodes (one of which he died in).
Of course, this all happened years before the events on DS9 began, but still: more than one episode, dies, not brought back to life. He has all the tickets.

Sisko asks if he's dead, and the Prophets say he's "where he belongs, with the Pah-Wraiths". So I guess he's still alive, for a given value of "alive".Sort of up in the air, but what about Gul Dukhat? Did he really die?
