Religous Fundamentalism mental disorder?

Yes I'm an lazy person who devoted a full 30 seconds to making this post. Still I find it an interesting read, and apolagize if it has been posted before.
I am capable of rearranging the fundamental building blocks of the universe in under six seconds. I shelve physics texts under "Fiction" in my personal library! I am grasping the reigns of the universe's carriage, and every morning get up and shout "Giddy up, boy!" You may never grasp the complexities of what I do, but at least have the courtesy to feign something other than slack-jawed oblivion in my presence. I, sir, am a wizard, and I break more natural laws before breakfast than of which you are even aware!

It's the sort of article you'll find written by a member of the Toronto Transhumanist Association. However, I suspect it would get somebody in hot water if it were published in Dallas.

Wow, that certainly was an interesting read. It's a shame I'll be away from my computer this weekend, otherwise I'd drop this off at another message board, just to watch the ensuing shenanigans.

Oh well, there's always Monday. :D

I don't like transhumanism. They all seem like a bunch of technophiles who'd rather drill a fuckhole into their harddrives than actually go outside and have contact with normal people.

Fundamentalist religion was created too justify war. My God(s) are better then your God(s). But anyways I agree more or lees with Freud and Dawkins. While in it's much later stages it ca classified as a mental disease. You or your Fundamentalist brethern are locked in your own insanity.

If you tried, you could probably consider anything to be a social meme complex. Various types of education, rumors/gossip, paranoia, The Jerry Springer Show, just plain crazy shit, so on and on and on...

True, but not all of those things are delusional, whereas religious fundamentalism quite literally has people ignoring the evidence of their senses.

I'm going to say something that will make everyone on this board consider me an insane rambling man: fundamentalism is one of those things that is so fucked up it reminds me that the world is still real, and functions normally ("normally" meaning "fucking chaotic"). It really doesn't bother me much. More comic relief than a threat. Hell, it discredits itself just by existing* thus saving normal people most of the trouble.

*referring to Creationism here.

Oh, I might as well say this, too: I LIVE WITH A CREATIONIST FUNIDE! MY UNCLE!! Help me...

We got into an argument last night over wether Al-Qada(sp?) has a suitcase-sized nuclear bomb ready to go off as soon as we attack Iraq. I'm trying to tell him that such a small nuke is impossible, and that he's probably thinking of a radiation bomb. He claims the former. He also subscribes to ultra-paranoid Doomsday fundie shit that tells him all this.

Help me...

He's a moron, but because you're his nephew, he treats you with a condescending attitude that tells you he will never seriously consider anything you say because he saw you in diapers. Sorry, but you're SOL.

Ultra, condiser yourself lucky you can argue with him. I have too take a near left to moderate Christian view too survive in my town. And I am really the farthest opposite of the Fundamentalists. My acting Left Christian lie not my atheist truth. If I would told the truth they'd go apeshit.

The sad thing is, he's a pretty smart guy. He is as critical as any skeptical atheist out there on anything other than his wacko-training. This is his computer, so he's a nice guy for letting me use it, but I'm sure he only bought it so he could get all that wacko-fundie shit faster than with the mail. He's been getting worse ever since.
