Clone Wars Season 1 on Blu-Ray

Post by Vympel »

Just got delivered today* and it's a very nifty set - lots of special features (all of which are in HD as far as I've seen so far) which are all pretty interesting, and of course the actual episodes look orgasmic in 1080p, but then so did the original film (or extended episode, really).

Seven of the episodes are Director's Cut (i.e. extended length) and it's nice to see some extra stuff, but its mostly with the talky-talky rather than any extra eye-candy.

But yeah the special features are great- each episode has an additional feature that lasts for 6-7 minutes (the ones I've seen so far) where Dave Filoni and others involved talk about aspect(s) of the episodes.

A funny one is that of Rising Malevolence, where Filoni talks about Plo Koon being able to survive in vacuum.

"This is one where I had arguments with my master, George. He said 'how can he survive in space? What's that about?'.

I said 'well how do we know he can't, he's an alien, its not defined, if we say he can, he can!'

George said 'I've done six movies and I've never had anyone fight in space like in this episode.'

"I replied 'Well you had General Grievous in Episode III fly out of the bridge and then walk on the outside of the ship.'

George replies 'well he's a robot.'

'No, he's a cyborg!!!'

*If you buy Clone Wars on Blu-Ray here, you'll get it for $79.99, absolute cheapest price (JB HiFi). I ordered it from Amazon - got it for $34.99USD, plus shipping- wayyyy cheaper thanks to the weak USD.

For the TV release they were broadcast out of chronological order, have they kept that for this release or do they put them chronologically?

Same order as when they were televised. That was IIRC a decision the creators made, not something that was forced on them - there's no real sense of time anyway between arcs so it doesn't really matter.
