Let's see, it starts out with some Wong bashing, then goes on to have homosexual innuendo and accusations. Yep, a typical SB thread. (The ASVS thread wouldn't have the Wong bashing.)

Someone's going to have to interview Wong for real to stop this stupid series.

And I'm pissed off about Wong's voice. It sounds like a distorted version of what I'm using for my video game.

No, that thread is not typical. But IMO it was meant as a joke.

As for an ASVS version of the thread. No, it wouldn't have Wong bashing, it would have Laird, E1701, Alyeska, BigBryan, or Gothmog bashing.

That thread was meant as a joke, I would suggest you take it as such.

I don't go there cause they disregard any of wongs figures, but provide none of their own. I was there for a very short time though.

Ahem, the link in this thread is to the SB.com Non Scifi Forum. Not all things at SB.com revolve around ST vs SW. Infact the Non Scifi Forum is currently the most active forum at SB.

Really... You accusse the entirety of SB (which at the moment the Star Wars side is currently in control of the Vs Forum) of being something they aren't. I inform you that SB doesn't even concentrate on the subject you have decided to judge them on. Your response? That what I said was pointless. No, what I said is not pointless. Your perpetuating a stereotype that has no place here. Your judging the many by the actions of the VERY few. Myself being a seasoned ST debater at SB I can state for a fact you are referring to at most 20 people at SB, no more. Yet you would judge all 600+ active/semi-active members for the actions of only 20 people?

Sorry, we've just seen a lot of jokes (e.g. monkey pissing on Darth Wong's wife, the 'tiny galaxy' "joke", the Connie 'joke') so I did come in with some bias. SB arguments may be a joke but that doesn't make them funny.

I don't go to the spacebattles "vs. forums" because I find their quality of debate to be laughably poor. Almost all of the posts are one paragraph or less, dictating an often moronic tactic and demanding proof why it WOULDN'T work. There is no math. There is no debating tactic. There is, really, no evidence going for anyone. Instead all they do is have these little fantasies about what they could do if they were in charge of the Enterprise or an ISD, or a Sharlin and then decide that every other universe would lose to their silly tactic--which more often than not is just some stupid fanfic-esq idea that would not work, either in universe or in RL. And half the time their selected ship is incapable of performing the maneuver, anyway.

Well that's good to know. I don't want you guys to waste your time making something that only about 50 people will hear at ASVS compared to the 3,607 people we have at Spacebattles.

Actually before I made that "ego statement" I did a search for the names Gothmog, Alyeska, and E1701 and I found more then one thread (for each person) where you were happily ripping into our beliefs and at the same time stating SB babies and making collective statements about SB.

Actually the 100th ranked member at SB has 2853 posts and joined in April of 2001. The 300th ranked member of SB has 773 posts and joined in Feburary of 2001. There are aproximately 300 some active members at SB, and there are some 300 more semi-active members who post often enough to be recognized by a fair number of people.

Come on, Alyeska, are you seriously saying that the quality of debate at SB is as strong as it is at SD.net?

I won't bash on you (but I found your attempts to go after Darth Wong's website in the infamous "Wong is Wrong" campaign to be hilarious), but I also can't imagine why you would believe that the quality of debate at SB is as high as it is here. It clearly is not. I've been on your forum, and I have found some of it interesting, but I also did not see nearly the quality of debate on the "vs." forums as the quality of debate here on the same topic area. I found, in general, that there were very few people bringing up evidence and a large group of people bringing up silly and unproven tactics in an effort to "prove" that their respective side would win the battle. It was not even a debate, really, it was just kind of talking about everyone's different masturbatory visions on how one ship could single-handedly defeat another.
