Ghost Rider wrote:The secret of making cash is finding a resource that is extraordinarily cheap on your server and seeing how much will people really pay. Frost Lotus is a perfect example. Our server tried 100G per...and it dropped to about 50-60G per because no one would fucking buy it, even though most of the top guilds give out Flasks for whatever raid, be it trash or glass chewing. Hell, even with the advent of new gear, Infinite Dust sells at 2G per...at most. I make more money converting it with the Frostweave I have into Bags.
Hell for the real money maker on my server? Fishing Dragonfin. Do an hour, I'd say make around 1K gold...easily because of how much people are willing to get that little extra out from food. Rhino is a good secondary.
Also, Primordial Saronite? Unless the drops are constant from bosses, I see it still being 2-3K at minimum and only at the end of the life of this patch as well as everyone getting geared out the nose. Currently it's dropped twice and is selling for 10K per. And a whole bunch of people on the server has 23+ badges. Crusader Orbs started at 5K, dropped to 3K when the patch for badges came out, and at the end of 3.2 I could sell for 800-1K. But that's for my server. Some will drop out like a brick if they only have 3 guilds that can effectively do ICC.
All in all, the new LFG has been fun. So far I got my Perky Pug, used badges to buy my epic gems for my gear, and so far no wipes on anything...even with a shitty priest that heals at 7K for a critical heal.
Your economy sounds vastly different from mine - fortunately for me. Our Crusader Orbs were only going for around 1k not long after they were available for badges. Price last week was around 400-600 per, depending on when and how many were up. I don't anticipate seeing the stuff available for anything remotely reasonable for another month or two - basically, when the remainder of ICC opens up and people are farming the whole thing on 10/25, regular and Heroic. The amount of badges you get by running most or all of the bosses 4 times every week is sufficient to get people their T10+ pieces rapidly, and after that they'll start selling the Saronite. It would be insane to try to buy the stuff before then - supply will necessarily just be way too low. I'll use the intervening time to make some more cash in preparation, and not sweat Shadowmourne too much when it's still not even possible to make significant progress in the chain.
I checked out Titanium on my server, and the bars are sellign decently. Saronite seems to have jumped up in price, however - I make a profit still by transmuting, but it's far better for me to just hit up Sholazar and mine the stuff myself - and get some Titanium besides. I can get a good 10 stacks of ore within an hour or less if I do it at the right times, which coincidentally happen to be the poorest times for finding groups and doing other more fun things.
Between Mining, Blacksmithing, Jewelcrafting, and Alchemy, I can still make a respectable amount of money for a reasonable amount of effort. I tend to stock up for a while and then go through my bags and sell large quantities over a week or so.
I should level my fishing and cooking so I can sell Dragonfin, though. The fish uncooked sells for around 75g/stack - it's never even available cooked because the demand is so high. That's the biggest lesson I;ve learning in teh WoW economy - an item may have a high value in terms of rarity and cost to manufacture, but you need enough customers who are willing and able to pay that value to be able to actually sell it. 1k+ items are usually priced fairly for how good they are, but few people seem to actually want to spend the money anyway.
As for progression - last night's 10-mans were much better than Tuesday, since the servers were actually stable. We 2-3 shotted everything but Saurfang, and the only reason we didn;t get him was group comp. We have:
Blood DK
Unholy DK (me)
Rogue
2x Prot Pallies
Resto Shaman
Resto Druid
Holy Pally
Hunter
Shadow Priest
Clearly, we lack significant ranged burst damage for the Blood Beasts. We were needing the DKs to virtually ignore the boss and run around kiting the Beasts with taunt and Chains of Ice so that our diminutive ranged could take them down. We could get Saurfang to enrage at 30%, but by that point we had around 3 or 4 people Marked and everything fell apart.
After reading White Haven's note about Boomkins, I'm going to have our Shadow Priest switch to his Disc spec and the Druid go Thunderchicken. Saurfang should trouble us no more.
25-man starts on Wednesday, unless we find enough people online over the weekend to hit it before the reset.
