Actually that entire "battle" offends me. Shouldn't the Enterprise have just opened fire with everything they have? I mean if it's an "obsolete" Bird of Prey it shoulda been fairly simple to kill it with sheer firepower.

Yeah it's been baffeling me for ages. Baldie loses the Federation flag ship to an 80 year old bird of prey, while he's not even there, and how do they repay him. They probably appologise for giving him a sub-standard ship and give him the NEW flag ship.
