Question on religious conversion rate data

Post by Guardsman Bass »

Sorry to be throwing another question out there so soon, but does anyone know of some good sources on rates and numbers of different religious converts, particularly in Europe? I'm especially looking for information on the number of converts and rate of conversion of people from Islam to Christianity. I tried looking for the Islam-to-Christianity info through Google and Google Scholar, but all I could find was anecdotal stuff.

If you're wondering, this was sparked by an e-mail I got from one of my friends, who is serving a Mormon mission in the UK. He was talking about how they converted this muslim guy, which got me thinking "How common is this (conversion from Islam to Christianity or another religion)?"

I remember a documentary on Channel 4 (British TV channel) which was, ironically, about Mormons in the UK, on missions to convert people in their religion. The programme was a while ago, and I can't remember much, but I don't think the conversion rate was very high. There was a large bit about violence by Muslims on those who had converted from Muslims to Christianity.

The programme was either Dispatches or Panorama. Perhaps it might be a good idea for to search for these?
