Star Wars Scaling (again)

Post by Kurgan »

I found this thread over at OT.com (not advertising, mind you) and wondered if
anyone here wanted to contribute their wisdom to it:

When it comes down to it, the scales of vehicles are really inconsistent between movies, even between shots.
fun/fantasy movies existed before the overrated Star Wars came out. What made it seem 'less dark' was the sheer goofy aspect of it: two robots modeled on Laurel & Hardy, and a smartass outlaw with bigfoot co-pilot and their hotrod pizza-shaped ship, and they were sucked aboard a giant Disco Ball. -adw1
Someone asked me yesterday if Dracula met Saruman and there was a fight, who would win. I just looked at this man. What an idiotic thing to say. I mean really, it was half-witted. - Christopher Lee

Part of the mistakes are confusing the three ESB/ROTJ command bridges, though. The one from the MF flyby in ROTJ is different from the Executor and ISD-II ones from those films. It's more likely the film crew made a separate detailed bridge for another ship than the Executor (which already has one for the shuttle flyby scene).

There's more finger pointing going on than there ever has been here or Spacebattles...

The alarm bells ring when it's (to paraphrase) "we can't use the numbers in the Technical Commentaries because we simply just don't trust the tf.n types"...
All people are equal but some people are more equal than others.

Yeah, but those tf.n types really can't be trusted... ;)
