"I met her on the first day she arrived [on set] in Eugene with her husband," said Scott Chambers, a principal at Chambers Productions and an executive producer on the picture. "She looked ill, as much as 10 pounds underweight, and she's a small person to begin with. She easily could have made an excuse not to come to work, but she didn't. She said, 'I've got to get better, but I want to do this part.' "

"I'm not the problem, it's the rest of the world that's wrong". We need some sort of crusade against fattiness like we currently have against smoking, the health effects have got to be at least as bad.

Bullshit. According to an Auptopsy report, she was 5'3" and 115lb. That puts her bmi at 20.4, which is well into healthy range. Other sources state 105lb which is 18.6 and still in healthy range and not considered underweight.

I just watched some old time movie with Fred Astaire, and just about everybody looked like that. Obviously I'm seeing dancers and not a normal selection of the population of that era, but it's telling that nowdays people could assume that Brittany Murphy was underweight to the point where it materially contributed to her death.

Has the view of normal body weight been that skewed?

obviously Americans these days thinks that you are unhealthy if your thighs and calves aren't touching each other. Any sort of definition in your arm? Anorexia. People often point to art from medieval times and state that the ideal woman was much bigger than now. Hogwash... it may have been to a certain extent but not any tremendous difference for the most part and it seems that this trend for slightly larger women was a 17/18th century anamoly rather than historical trend. Even today, artists prefer painting bigger women and it's not because they find them sexually attractive or the ideal.

Yes, but if you follow my (ok, pretty flawed) assumption that Hydrocodone + 9 other things (that I don't recognize) = irresponsible drug use, then it's easy to get the idea that something (or possibly some combination of things) on that list killed her.

Yes, but if you follow my (ok, pretty flawed) assumption that Hydrocodone + 9 other things (that I don't recognize) = irresponsible drug use, then it's easy to get the idea that something (or possibly some combination of things) on that list killed her.

Yeah but with the other prescriptions in the name of her husband, mother, and someone else there is no real proof that she was taking those or that they were not in fact for the person in question.
