Hey, anytime you can listen to Carrie Fisher singing, and Mark Hamill's baby blues staring at you...is a good thing!

You know what, I don't want to hear a god damn word of it until you've actually sat through the fucking thing. I have. It is mind-numbingly awful.LordOskuro wrote:My god, it's full of SUCK!
Here's Vanity Fair's take on it:
Bruce Vilanch wrote:“I said: ‘You’ve chosen to build a story around these characters who don’t speak. The only sound they make is like fat people having an orgasm,’” the 250-plus-pound Vilanch recalls. “In fact, I told Lucas he could just leave a tape recorder in my bedroom and I’d be happy to do all the looping and Foley work for him.”
Lucas met these comments with a “glacial” look.

But could you actually tell anyone to watch it?Uraniun235 wrote:You know what, I don't want to hear a god damn word of it until you've actually sat through the fucking thing. I have. It is mind-numbingly awful.
I mean with a straight face and not warn them they are about to plunge their mind into some of the worst that television has to offer? For me, everytime I am about to, I fall silent. I just can't in any goodwill tell someone to sit through and watch it. It truly is lost time and the only gain is that you come out stronger for seeing something that fucking bad.

Re: The Legends Were True
and what's funny even such simple things as putting subtitles in the parts where wookiees are talking among themselves would have made it so much better (still bad but at least you could have made some sense of the plot), sure there's no subtitles on chewie's dialog in ANH but that's because we can "guess" what he's saying by the reactions of other people around him, there's no such help in the holiday special.
I mean what in god's green earth were they smoking to think that putting majority of the dialog in a language that literally no-one on the whole goddamn world cannot understand was a good idea.

Seen it, experienced the massive die-off of brain cells that accompanies watching it, and part of my soul died.

I can't believe what the hell I was seeing. I fully agree also that the Boba Fett cartoon is freaking awful, how can anyone like it?

I'd assume it's fett-wank from fandawhorians who haven't actually seen the cartoon, but they want fando nerd-cred so they all say "it's so cool 'cause it's got Boba Fett in it!"Vympel wrote:I can't believe what the hell I was seeing. Re: The Legends Were True
That was Fett's first appearance, ever.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!
Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!

Re: The Legends Were True
Yes, but most of the people who claim to like the cartoon probably didn't start until Fett became popular.Coyote wrote:That was Fett's first appearance, ever.
I'm willing to bet that anyone who saw the cartoon when it was first broadcast thought it sucked, but fett fans will immediately assume it was cool because fett was in it, and Fett has never done anything uncool.
(insert robot chicken sketch about Fett's boasting inside the Sarlacc here)

Re: The Legends Were True
Fett worshippers revere the cartoon because it's the birthplace of their messiah. Karen Traviss probably has it as her screen saver.
Also correct me if I'm wrong but Mark Hamill's mannequin face was the result of excessive makeup used to cover up the fact that he had just undergone heavy reconstructive surgery after a motorcycle accident no?

Re: The Legends Were True
Actually he didn't get into that accident until a little before RotJ. The Christmas Special was before even ESB. Thus all that make up was to make him shine better then Fisher maybe?Gramzamber wrote:Fett worshippers revere the cartoon because it's the birthplace of their messiah. And I'd be amazed if they'd even know of this being the first place Fett was shown. Most still attribute ESB, and that and avoid talking of the existence of the Christmas special.
