You know, Rose's "this is the story of how I died" bit at the end of season 2 was bad enough, and Donna's "death" at the end of season 4 was also an annoying cop-out, but this is just getting ridiculous. We know that the Doctor isn't going to die. He's already been case for the next season, for Rassilon's sake! Do they honestly think that anyone's going to fall for this bullshit, especially given the cop-outs that have accompanied every other major character "death" in this series so far?

I know it's not a pleasant thing but god damn I wish they'd stop navel-gazing about it. There's foreshadowing and then there's this. Are we supposed to believe the 10th Doc is just that irreplacably awesome?

in Time and the Rani the seventh Doctor gives his age as 953.

the doctor average life span of each integration should be fairly long but some of them died after 1 season. Maybe he feels he didn't get his full share or something.

But then there's a lot of off scene travel, for instance when the doctor makes the comments to Ood Sigma at the beging about going several places.

There's always a lot of offscreen life with the Doctor, I mean with the 9th I get the impression that he had been around for a while before the first series of new Who.
Besides even if his regenerations don't last as long as your average Time Lord, well that's the inevitable consequence of gallavanting around the universe, battling evil entities and saving entire species and not sitting around with your thumb up your ass on Gallifrey (barring occassional Presidential gauntlet o' death tantrums of course).
Hell, the Master hard already exhausted his regenerations long before the Doctor and is only still around due to cheating/because the Time Lords said so.

What I mean is this is the life the Doctor has chosen, for better or worse. He risks his life constantly, and to start complaining about it NOW is just silly and out of character.

Maybe it's the knowing that getting to him.

After all I know yes 1 day I will die and while that doesn't bother, what would bother me if someone came to me and said that I was going to die under such and such circumstance, I might be feeling sorry for myself. Especially if some of the those circumstance started to occur.

There's also the issue that he's running out of lives - he's already used up nine or ten regenerations, so with only two or three left even a single death means a lot more than his earlier ones.

Either that or he's miserable at the prospect of having to do another RTD Time Lord Regeneration PoseTM

Well I don't much like the whole "you're gonna die!" angle anyway, it's gone on for too long and all it gives us is a brooding, navel-gazing Doctor.
I mean okay if you want to foreshadow have the Ood say "your song will end" or whatever but then they go on and on with the silly old psychic woman and the "he will knock four times" business and blah blah blah (and by the way he knocked like 18 times so ha!).
