Are there any online sellers for older productivity software

Post by MKSheppard »

Like say, 3D Studio 2008 or 2009?

I don't feel like paying $2,000+ for a software program (the latest 3DS 2010).

When I worked in retail, upon the release of an updated software the vendor would buy back the unsold copies of the older version. Also, I heard tell that they would no longer permit the store to sell licenses for the older version.

I imagine it would be similar for online retailers, and so I would guess your best chance of finding it would be by purchasing it second hand. Which is probably questionable legally since you're not buying the software, just a license to use the software, and the EULA may state that the license is non-transferable.

You could also use Blender 3D.

Blenders user interface leaves much to be desired. You have to memorize dozens of keystrokes just to be a novice.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

Yes, Blender's UI is painfully ass-tardish. People criticize 3DS' interface, but it WORKS. Blender's doesn't.

Are you taking classes anywhere? The education suite (with 3ds max, softimage, maya, mudbox and motionbuilder) is $349.
