HijackThis log analysis needed

OK, having a few issues with my computer that maybe some of you fine folks can help me out with.

1. When I log into my account, if the other one is already logged in I receive some message stating that "logon.exe is already running" or something. Logon for what I don't know.

2. My volume icon appears to have packed up and moved south for the winter.

3. My HijackThis log seems suspicious but I can't put my finger on it. Thoughts?

Using Internet Explorer is just asking for trouble in the first place. Also, don’t use a swarm of anti virus programs as you are now. More is not better, running more then one such program is almost a surefire way to cause conflicts and make all of them ineffective.

C:\WINDOWS\stsystra.exe runs the system tray for your sound card, it may have something to do with the loss of the volume icon. Its safe to disable it, so do that and see if it helps. You have a Sigmatel audio card right?

I checked a bunch of these and you don’t have a bullseye virus as far as I can tell, and I’m no real expert at this, I just keep my own machine clean, but you have so absurdly many unnecessary processes running which could easily be trojans that it’s impossible to really tell without looking at the actual file locations of every single one. Even then it can be hard. Someone whose really knowledgeable might be able to nail this down, but regardless of that I’d seriously consider a reformat to get rid of the all the stuff you don’t need for good. It’d make your computer run faster for sure and it will make diagnosing any future problems immensely easier as you can save a logfile which you know is clean for comparisons.

It's been a while since I analyzed a HJT log, but this one looks clean to me. WRT Ad-Aware, if you're running the free version, two words: Just don't. It's worse than useless, because it does not provide any active or even passive protection, it just cleans up if shit gets on your computer afterward. And if shit gets on your computer, it's too late already at that point.

Skimmer is right about IE being trouble, I'd recommend Firefox. You could also try to download the newest audio drivers from the PC manufacturer, remove the old ones and install the new ones. That could fix the sound problem. Wouldn't be the first time Windows just crapped on the device drivers.

Actually I don't use IE - my wife does through AOL. I myself use Firefox.

I don't have any problems with my sound - my problem is that the icon isn't in the system tray anymore. I have no idea why.

Ad-aware sucks that much, huh? I'll have to remove it. Maybe that's what's been causing the oddity.

If you actually want freeware anti-malware stuff that doesn't interfere with anything, use Spywareblaster. It just immunizes your computer through passive means by blocking certain kind of browser-based malware from infecting the machine. Same if you install Spybot Search & Destroy without the TeaTimer component. They don't clash with each other and they shouldn't clash with your other protective software either.

Try reinstalling the audio drivers too.

Update on this: a virus apparently hijacked my sound drivers. I installed MalwareBytes and nuked the sucker.
