A more basic SWvsST Matchup...

Post by RogueIce »

What Federation object could defeat what Imperial object, in a relatively fair/decent fight?

Assume competence of whatever is manning it, that it can actually fight and all that other good stuff to be fair and even about it.

Well. The Enterprise-E might be able to take an X-Wing in a fight.

Could almost certainly take out an unshielded TIE, if torpedos can be proximity detonated.

I haven't participated in these debates for a while, but I think many people at this board would think those SW ships would win, gnome.

Seriously (at last) I'd say uglies are about the fairest matchup you're likely to get.

Explain? Carrack Cruisers have, I believe, multiple LTL batteries, and even light turbolasers are far more powerful than phasers or photon torpedos. The Carrack isn't a top-of-the-line design, by any means, but just because it's old and relatively small (compared to the ISDs and Mon Cal Cruisers) doesn't mean it isn't an effective warship.

Yeah some uglies would be pretty fair, considering how weak phasers are and the fact that they are as powerful as the laser cannons on the Slave-1 which couldn't even take out Obi-Wan Kenobi

Dropship?

As I recall it could only carry a max of 4 external rack mounted ties....a standard carrack design has no hanger so external mounts are the only option.

As for the weapons....the standard armarments IIRC was ion cannons not lasers.....but I may be wrong on that.....

The final icing on the cake....10 HTL's.....

LTL batteries are around 7 KT IIRC. Thats not a major threat. However Carrack Cruisers also carry a handful of HTLs IIRC. Thats a different story.

It can carry 1 dropship and 3 fighters, or 4 fighters, all on external mounts. Yes, it can have ion cannons instead of lasers.

*BZZT* Wrong.

The point-defense lasers on the surface of the TF Core Ship are rated at 8 kilotons apiece.

LTLs likely rank several hundred KT AT LEAST. The ligher weapons on the Acclamator are 6 MT apiece.

Lancers are light enough so at best they carry heavy lasers/LTLs and their shields are not top. (Likely sacrificed for better manuverability/speed). A fleet of Federation ships could take it.

A Lancer would probably be equal to a Borg Cube in terms of threat.

7 KT for LTLs?

TIE lasers = 1 KT. Capship lasers = 6 MT. Where would this 7 KT LTL be? Wasn't the AT-AT lasers rated at a minimum of 16 KT recently..
