Really not my best work, just not my night I guess. (Well, next time. I've done my research, all I need now is practice and a decent prime).

You're saying I was the Death of the old thread? That my presence signaled it's reaping? :D.

I tried to use the Chinon at an expo, but no flash, no tripod, low lighting, and the inherent shudderiness of the SLR made it tricky. Thank god my friend had a digital with him.

I'm not sure what it's supposed to be, but from this angle it looks like a butt that's about to get munched by a giant mouth.

That is some NASTY noise, what were you doing to your camera to use such a high ISO in midday?

He was using a compact camera at an ISO of 1600. :P EXIF readers rock, by the way.

I think your third image would have benefitted from a slightly different perspective. Maybe show the street or sidewalk a little more? If it was empty it would add something like a story, a long empty walk or road, with the blank wall behind him.

Thanks for the feedback! He was sitting right on the edge of a revolving door and the corner of the building, so that was problematic but point noted, thanks!
What would you say about this shot by comparison?
I'm planning to really get into street photography over the coming few months, i'm picking up my first ever 50mm prime lens next week :D.

I liked the contrast and deeper, darker colours in this shot, but I think it might have benefitted from the tree branching out less at the bottom.

I'll need to do a cloudscape project one day :). (Come on volcanoes!).

I tried aping some building/mirror frame/reflection style pictures with this shot, not sure if it works well enough. (The style is difficult to do, the basic material is very bland and uniform).

Finally got the 50mm 1.4F lens :D. (Pity I don't have any time to use it :( ).
I field tested it on my cousin's Brit Milah, but that's not going anywhere :P. So, some garden shots I took over 5 minutes instead of multivariable vector & scalar field integrations :):

The problem is you don't really have a clear subject for the photos, photo 2 might be the face of the statue but it's framed from too far away and in an awkward part of the picture, it doesn't draw the eye to the subject. In photo 3 it's the same but even worse, there's no separation of the subject from the background and the colours make it even more distracting & confusing.

Selective focus isn't a tool by itself, it needs to work alongside composition, colour, and contrast to highlight the subject and make it stand out from the background. For example, bamboo picture (by me) and baby pic by one of my friends.

I'd think a picture of fields would do better in a landscape format, wider than it is tall. Unless you get a grain silo in the image, or some tall tree.
