Flows a bit weird so its a bit off putting, I've never seen Macross and more or less missed the anime of that era so I'm probably not used to the style and it is a "in the making of" video and not the complete sequence which I hope gets made and finished.
Uses voice overs from the series which is kinda fortunate as it leaves alot of lines he can peruse, and even more luckily he doesn't need to lift the Daleks lines, just use a voice modulation program.
Something tells me the line "Capital city of Japan now in firing range" will probably make a lot of people here happy
Now if the 3rd Doctor kicks as much ass as implied in this trailer in the actual old serials I am gonna have to pickup again where I left off.

I must admit i am unfamiliar with Dr Who but have seen a few episodes and don't really remember him being a fighter. May have to pick the show up and will definitely give this a try.

In the old series, the Third Doctor--i.e. the one here--was quite ready to go Shatnerfu on your ass if need be.hunter5 wrote:I must admit i am unfamiliar with Dr Who but have seen a few episodes and don't really remember him being a fighter. Heh, I hadn't seen the second and third parts of this. Pretty awesome, that Dalek space scene was very cool.
Re: Animesque Doctor Who Adaption
" The capital city of Japan is now in firing range! " - Epic.
I was always thinking we needed an anime adaption of Dr Who at the very least as an experiment to see how anime related customs would interact with the Who setting.
I think this fan video captures both styles nicely and gives me confidence that I would probably enjoy a sanctioned production.

Re: Animesque Doctor Who Adaption
There was a thread about this previously.
Sadly, while the animations were impressive and I believe that the Whoverse can adopt to cartoon/animé style well (for one thing, we would not have to be stuck on Earth 95% of the time), I don't get the author's insistence on inserting a half-naked animé chick speaking something that does not sound like proper japanese to me, while wielding a sub-machine gun one-armed like some two-bit criminal.

Credo!

I think this was just test footage for a fan project and not something under development by the BBC.

Re: Animesque Doctor Who Adaption
Patrick Degan is right I think, but if there IS a Doctor Who animated thingy well, here's my thoughts...
Lose the cliche 'anime stick girl in a thong' bit, that just doesn't seem very Doctor Who to me.
Ass kicking: well, let's see someone spend a good portion of their (long) lives on dangerous adventures fighting Sontarans, Cybermen, Daleks, and monsters of the week and NOT pick up a few kick-ass moves!
Could be good, could be crap, but keep the clever writing from the show. That's what gets most people into Doctor Who!

There should be an official metric in regard to stupidity, so we can insult the imbeciles, morons, and RSAs out there the civilized way.
Any ideas for units of measure?
This could be the most one-sided fight since 1973 when Ali fought a 80-foot tall mechanical Joe Frazier. My memory isn't what it used to be, but I think the entire earth was destroyed.

Re: Animesque Doctor Who Adaption
I believe it was because the maker was aiming for a blend for 1980s anime with Doctor Who, which if I recall may have had gratuitous fanservice.
Re: Animesque Doctor Who Adaption
Being intentional doesn't stop it sucking. If you're too old to get excited over 'omg teh Tokyo in rangez' it's just a typical piece of fan animation.
Re: Animesque Doctor Who Adaption
This is petty in the extreme, but having the Cybermen operate things via hand controls gets to me.

Dude in the show they operated their own chest hardware by hand!
Re: Animesque Doctor Who Adaption
Love the Cybermen effects, especially the closeup on the face under the mask. That alone makes up for Ms. Fanservice.

Re: Animesque Doctor Who Adaption
hmmmmmm, wonder how bbc will react to this.
the 9th doctor was a fighter of sorts.
i think there already are official bbc animated webcasts of doctor showing lost or unfilmed episodes. not entirely sure since i havent seen them myself.

Depends where he lives, (probably the UK) different countries have different standards on what qualifies as copyright infringement, usually non profit fanwork showed on youtube isn't chased after which is my understanding.
Re: Animesque Doctor Who Adaption
Considering that the original has been up for some time, most likely they will continue to ignore it and be happy with the the free publicity that it's generating for them.thegreatpl wrote:hmmmmmm, wonder how bbc will react to this.

Re: Animesque Doctor Who Adaption
i didnt really expect anything less. i was simply musing how i wonder how the writers, producers, actors, directors, and the like will think and react. actually, looking back, im not even sure what i meant by that.
should be alright as long as no one makes any money off of it. i think.
