Peace at last?

Post by Admiral Johnason »

I know that Mike and Ousus have won the first ST vs SW War. However, do any of you know about any possible new threats on the horizon? B5 fans are pretty much on our side and Dune, Farscape, Stargate, and Anime fans are on our side. This thread is to mark down all threats and make a list of the Axis of Stupid. Seriously, this is just for the records folk. Sorry if it sounds stupid.

Crafties can always make a stink. And Godzilla fans always surface from time to time and mess things up (like their big green hero). And those damned Charlie Brown fans ALWAYS thwart my schemes!!

Yup, Crafties = Starcraft.

Anyways, I wish Mike would write a sequal to his story, where the Empire finds another wormhole and launches a second invasion of the SW empire, or vice versa.

...Wait, StarCraft vs Star Wars?
That's...ummm...well...umm

At least StarCraft has combined arms units, unlike Star Trek, and the Ghosts are cool (StarCraft Force users?).

For ground combat I can actually see StarCraft ground forces standing up to Star Wars, assuming that StarCraft gauss rifles can punch through stormtrooper armor, flamers can heat up the armor sufficiently to cook the occupant, etc. Goliath vs an AT-ST is probably a good matchup. Siege tank vs AT-AT? ...Well, maybe, but...I dunno. Wraiths vs unshielded TIEs might be a fair matchup. Valkyrie warheads also might be effective--why isn't there an air-to-ground version of the Valkyrie? Saturation bombing is your FRIEND!

The StarCraft BattleCruisers vs an ISD? Heh. Heh heh heh. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Okay, I'm done now.

Kid, my brain is valuable. Stop filling it with your crap. You wnat to fit in? Do it by debating and showing some skill to earn some respect rather then hyping shit up to try and look like "one of the crew". It takes longer (I've been debating for over a year and I'm still nowhere close), but it doesn't make you look like a rabid little freak.

Wait, StarCraft vs Star Wars?
It all depends on what calcs one uses, really. The reason I rarely bother with SC is because nobody really knows what its capabilities are. The in-game dynamics suck major ass, of course... the cutscenes offer some nice info, but it's too limited... and, last I heard, the novels didn't shed much light on anything, either.

Guess we'll just have to wait for SC:G.

Mike was in school during the "first ST vs SW war" as you call it.

The very concept of such a thing is silly. There must have been somebody back in the 70s who argued that SW could beat ST, or vice versa.

Almost certainly someone who saw SW and had watched ST said "I wonder who would win?"

Could that be a threat?

Probably not. I don't see anything could be a threat. Anyway, there seem to be a lot of admirals.

No.

I don't know why you guys are worried about "threats." Either one universe is technologically superior, or it is not. There's not really a specific side that anyone should be "worried" about, per se. We compare things, but we shouldn't be basing our arguments on our own personal favorite sides.

Im with Ossus on this... the at least theoretical purpose is to arrive at good conclusions through constructive debate, with the chance to mine for evidence in ones favorite science fiction and fantasy genres... a charming excuse for an enjoyable passtime.

If ones truest purpose is not to discover the truth, but to prove the truth you already belive... well, im sure the Creation Scientists would be happy to have you.

There are sci-fi universes out there which have a perfectly legitimate chance to stomp SW. There is no reason to declare war on their fans as a result. This is what distinguishes us from Star Trek fans, in fact.

It is, I thought it just depended on the person? I guess I should be out declaring war on some other sci-fi universe. :D

The other thing about this thread that I'm concerned about is the idea that we achieve "peace" by stomping our alleged enemies into the ground. I guess that the only way to "peace" is to destroy everyone who doesn't agree with us about everything. This quasi-nationalistic rhetoric is not a good measure of sci-fi technology and capabilities. I'm not sure that this is an appropriate message to be spreading.

Hmm, maybe we ought to list them?

The Culture, Xeelee, Necrons at full power, The C'tan(Necron Masters, gods essentially), The 4th & 5th Imperium + the 4th Empire.

To name a few.
