Goa'uld vs. AC Earth.
As Anubis' initial scout fleet of three Ha'tak warships approaches earth, a random ascended being decided he wants to have a little fun. He transports all three warships to the alternate earth featured in the Ace Combat series of games. The energy emitted by the dimensional transfer is recorded by earth-based radar systems, and the fleet's arrival is detected. The commander of the scout fleet, being an arrogant bastard, decided to invade this new earth.
Assume the AC time frame is 2016 shortly after the end of the Anean continental war, and that major powers such as Usea, Osea, and Yuketobania will work together to repel the invasion.

Re: Goa'uld vs. AC Earth.
Am I missing something or is this going to be a slaughter? The Ha'Taks can shrug off naquadah enhanced nukes. What exactly is the Ace Combatverse going to do against them?
A scientist once gave a public lecture on astronomy. He described how the Earth orbits around the sun and how the sun, in turn, orbits around the centre of a vast collection of stars called our galaxy.
At the end of the lecture, a little old lady at the back of the room got up and said: 'What you have told us is rubbish. The world is really a flat plate supported on the back of a giant tortoise.
The scientist gave a superior smile before replying, 'What is the tortoise standing on?'
'You're very clever, young man, very clever,' said the old lady. 'But it's turtles all the way down.'

Re: Goa'uld vs. AC Earth.
Even if the AC powers can't kill the Ha'taks (and let's face it, they probably can't), the idea that three Ha'taks could meaningfully conquer a planet as populous or militarised as Ace Combat Earth is positively laughable. We've actually seen Ha'taks hit buildings in a planet-side city before, and it wasn't terribly impressive.

Re: Goa'uld vs. AC Earth.
The AC universe may actually do worse than our own, since they seem to have very few nuclear weapons available, and the nukes we did see used (in AC Zero) were relatively low yield (hard to judge but definitely kilotons not megatons). They have space based lasers, ABL lasers and particle beams, and large-scale railguns, but none of those have enough firepower to seriously trouble a normal Hatak, never mind the late-series Anubis upgraded models. The Goa'uld will spend a week or two bombarding all major defense installations (and key infrastructure) from space, then move in. My guess is that they will preserve existing governments and force an organised surrender, as they don't have the numbers to fight a John Connor style resistance spread across an entire ruined planet. Of course, they will not let on that they are just three ships cut off from support. They will say that they are just a task force and if AC Earth does not surrender it will be utterly obliterated when the main fleet arrives.

What about those Anti-Asteroid guns from AC... 4 I think it was? I apologise, I'm not all that familiar with the AC series.
Apologies also if they've already been mentioned and I missed it

This odyssey, this, exodus. Do we journey toward the promised land, or into the valley of the kings? Three decades ago I envisioned a new future for our species, and now that we are on the brink of realizing my dream, I feel only solitude, and regret. Has my entire life's work been a fool's crusade? Have I led my people into this desert, only to die?

It's also canonical that two ha'taks can be reasonably expected to end human civilization. You're talking something much more devastating than nuclear war - we've seen them not do much to Kelowna, but that doesn't mean they can't dial the firepower up or use naquadah enhanced bombs.Ford Prefect wrote:Even if the AC powers can't kill the Ha'taks (and let's face it, they probably can't), the idea that three Ha'taks could meaningfully conquer a planet as populous or militarised as Ace Combat Earth is positively laughable. Simply invading isn't on, but we see in 'Continuum' that the average system lord is more than bright enough to decide to smack the tau'ri repeatedly until the population is reduced before going near the ground.

Sending a lone pilot on a trench run deep inside the bowels of a Goa'uld vessel in an improbable attack to destroy the ultimate weapon won't work? Cause if that fails, the ACverse is screwed!

Sadly, Ace Combat doesn't get space fighters until 2040.Shroom Man 777 wrote:Sending a lone pilot on a trench run deep inside the bowels of a Goa'uld vessel in an improbable attack to destroy the ultimate weapon won't work? Cause if that fails, the ACverse is screwed!

Re: Goa'uld vs. AC Earth.
The Stonehenge battery doesn't have that much power; given the performance the guns have a muzzle velocity of... at least 10 km/s just to be able to engage targets in space effectively at all. Caliber is listed as 280mm on the wiki, which at least gives a rough estimate for projectile mass. In the AAA mode we normally see it fire in, the best guess I can come up with for what it's shooting is small nuclear warheads on a time delay fuze.OmegaChief wrote:What about those Anti-Asteroid guns from AC... 4 I think it was? Even then, the Stonehenge guns got blown up in 2005 as part of the events of AC4, so they're not available.
Without the kind of technology that helps humans defend themselves in the Stargate setting, the Ace Combat people are screwed; their weapons just don't pack the kind of punch they need.

Maneuvering it was pretty hard though. But it did have nifty phased plasma pulse thinggies! It also did not help that the flight controller's dialogue and stuff were all in Japanese, which I totally did not get.Starglider wrote:Sadly, Ace Combat doesn't get space fighters until 2040.Shroom Man 777 wrote:Sending a lone pilot on a trench run deep inside the bowels of a Goa'uld vessel in an improbable attack to destroy the ultimate weapon won't work? Man, Ace Combat totally gets shafted in this one! Mobius One! Fox Two! Booby! Go dance with the angels! Demon Shroom, I pray for your success! Here comes the snow! Sky Eye! Yo shroomy, still alive?
