I installed the first disk, installed the second disk, then used the "data files" option in the Fallout 3 launcher to turn on what I wanted. It even recognized and installed the various mods I had downloaded before buying the game.MKSheppard wrote:The problem is that the DLCs all came out pretty late after the original game, and in the GOTY edition, they're on a separate DVD, and not slipstreamed into the Fallout 3 install and enabled from the start. You have to do some searching to find out how to activicate them.Ghost Rider wrote:Point Lookout also had a modicum of challenge versus "I R HAEV SUPAH ARMR AND GUNZ!!!". Well, kinda given the hit points on the stupid critters.
Playing the addons without an end-game character (level 18-20 or so) is certainly going to be a lot harder.

I loaded the mods that were suggested at the beginning, but isnt there a program that lets you setup how the mod order is run?
FMOD or something?
Thanks in advance

you see that little graphic that shows the guy in powered armou that says play at the top, and options on the bottom?
look about halfway down the list and you get to the mod manager, it's labled something like "Datafiles"

I never even looked in that file. I guess I'll have to now.

Wait.....
I just got home and I do not see what you are talking about.
You see this as you start the game? Cause it is not there.

Go into your FAllout 3 directory
Hit F3Launcher.exe or something. You will need your game disc in the drive -- I guess this is their method of DRM for the GOTY version, and something I can live with.
You'll see that screen.

yeah half way down on your launcher screen, it took me forever to find it originally...

I did but it is not working. I'm hating myself but I may have to reload the game again.

The Fallout Mod Manager does the job for me quite nicely.ZGundam wrote:I loaded the mods that were suggested at the beginning, but isnt there a program that lets you setup how the mod order is run?

Is the FMM really neccessary, or can you just use the Fallout Launcher to do the loading?

I think it really depends on how many mods you've got. I've got loads, so FoMM's really handy and has a number of useful built-in utilities (such as archive invalidation, which enables you to use new textures, IIRC). Honestly though, I just started using FoMM as soon as I started modding the game, after my experiences in Oblivion.

Re: Shep's Review of Fallout 3: GOTY Edition
I did the archive invalidation seperately. I don't really have a lot of mods running; Fellout, DC Interiors, No weapons degredation, and my own stuff that fixes all of the rookie FPS designer mistakes Bethesda made. No errors or crashes yet. I'm working on making it so you can only be healed by doctors or sleeping; stimpacks only heal crippled limbs. It is surprising how much more enjoyable the game is this way.
