Weird preview. I mean, the music and idea was fine, but the execution, eh. Just a preview anyway, though.
If The Infinity Program were not a forum, it would be a pie-in-the-sky project.

Re: Interesting Developments For "Doctor Who" [Spoilers].
I wouldn't call the Emperor Dalek's saucer fleet particularily inferior when the fairly small Dalek vessels seemed to have fast sublight speeds and could mash up Earth's surface effectively (with the coastlines of continents warping in seconds). In "The Stolen Earth" the saucers deployed by the Crucible battle station came in fairly low and slow, inflicting only moderate damage on targets, and not even shooting down a large flying target such as the Valiant sky carrier (leaving it to be swarmed by actual Daleks, rendered in rushed CGI). I don't think the Daleks themselves even had shielded hulls. And while the Crucible beaming up the TARDIS with a tractor beam was impressive, the Emperor Dalek's cyborg slave onboard the Dalek augmented Game Station could teleport the Doctor and his companions right out of the TARDIS while it was whizzing through the Time Vortex (which is more tricky than beaming up the stationary TARDIS). Although Davros' Daleks must've cut corners to build the Reality Bomb and planet catching device.Starglider wrote:All we saw Rose do was destroy a small fleet of inferior Dalek saucers, and make one human immortal. These were Daleks the Doctor described as 'half-mad scavangers', who couldn't even defeat a skateboard-sized shield generator or prevent the Doctor materialising inside their ship. The Time War was truly vast in scope, millions if not billions of ships, engagements spread throughout the timeline etc. The Daleks there were not only much more numerous, they had much better technology; at least as good as Davros's pocket empire, which had no trouble neutralising and destroying the Tardis and was in the process of destroying the entire multiverse.
It opened up a can of worms, but I never thought it was that dreadful - Rose merged with the TARDIS and used it to spread the "Bad Wolf" meme throughout the timeline the TARDIS was part of, with the TARDIS transmitting the meme through its translation system (that could get into people's heads and change how written/printed word are read). Rose using the TARDIS' energy to atomise the Daleks was "inspired" by NA comic strip where the 8th Doctor goes into the core of a Cyberman ship (these were far-future Cybermen who were approaching the Daleks and Time Lords in power). You know I thought so at the time, but later RTD stuff (Journey's End...) was bad enough to make it look almost acceptable.

Re: Interesting Developments For "Doctor Who" [Spoilers].
Before Alice in Wonderland at the cinema today I saw a Dr Who advert in 3D. Nothing particularly new they showed quite a bit of the Angels. They also seemed to show a new alien quite prominently something like a traditional Grey but with a more reptilian face. They also showed quite a bit of the new companion it seem like they will have another will they, wont they relationship.
Has anyone else seen this?

I've got a feeling that the reptile things are supposed to be Silurians, or something related.

I dont think so, I think I remember seeing a Sea Devil type thing in a previous trailer and it looked to me more like the original design, however, I dont remember seeing its face straight on so you might be right.

Re: Interesting Developments For "Doctor Who" [Spoilers].
There seemed to be two reptile subspecies in the first trailer - the creature in the foreground raising his/her carbine looked more humanoid, while the creature behind looked a lot more reptile and willowy (and featured in the closing seconds of the second trailer). These new aliens don't really interest me, to be honest, I rather they had an enhancement of the "Cybus" Cybermen (making them less bulky, etc). Anyway Matt Smith is going on a nationwide PR tour:
The new Doctor Who will be introduced to fans across the UK later this month as a tour gets under way showcasing the first episode of the upcoming series. The 11th doctor, Matt Smith, and his companion, Karen Gillan, will travel around the UK on a tour bus as part of a BBC Outreach programme. The tour will target hard-to-reach communities relatively underserved by the BBC. The locations are Belfast, Inverness, Sunderland, Salford and Northampton. The first stop is Belfast on 29 March, with the tour winding up in Salford on 31 March.

Another trailer is out: YouTube
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

Cybus Cybermen? Again? Can't they try the Mondasians for once, the existence of which they have acknowledged twice already?

It seems pretty exciting, all in all. I do hope Who gets a whole lotta new stuff that's different from the last seasons. The girl looks pretty cute, and I hope they don't end up with any ridiculous Rose Tyler style crap. Because that was just stupid.

Here's another trailer from BBC America; YouTube
I think it is better than what the BBC put out. It gives us a better feel for Smith and Pond.

That is a much better trailer, and invokes mystery. Well produced.

So I stare wistfully at the Lightning for a couple of minutes. Two missiles, sharply raked razor-thin wings, a huge, pregnant belly full of fuel, and the two screamingly powerful engines that once rammed it from a cold start to a thousand miles per hour in under a minute. Life would be so much easier if our adverseries could be dealt with by supersonic death on wings - but alas, Human resources aren't so easily defeated.

Thing is, do we get a doctor cross over? I wouldn't mind a 8 and 9 as part of a time war mini arc/flashback or something.
One thing I would love to know, is how the hell does the doctor not run into his previous self?

Time Lords aren't supposed to cross their own time lines under "normal" circumstances. It clearly isn't some rule of the universe because they can do it when they feel like it, so most of the time it seems to be an artificial decree which seems to get enforced pretty well (somehow).

Might it be a function built into the TARDIS itself? I though they did it when the felt like when the Time Lords were in power because they could basically squash the paradoxes, with some effort. Which is why they only do the X Doctor thing in times of great need. Since the time war the Doctor doesn't like to do it for reasons like we saw in season 1; if you're not careful paradoxes will eat your face.mr friendly guy wrote:Time Lords aren't supposed to cross their own time lines under "normal" circumstances. Yeah they can deal with paradoxes, doesn't mean they wanted to do it frequently, so they only crossed their time lines now and again when it was felt necessary.Crazedwraith wrote: I though they did it when the felt like when the Time Lords were in power because they could basically squash the paradoxes, with some effort.
