Vive El Presidente! - Tropico 3

Post by Balrog »

So I was a bit surprised to find out that not only was Tropico 3 released recently, but it's also on Xbox. Leery at the prospect of playing a PC game on a console, I've tried the 360 demo and I just can't stop playing it. It's definitely captured the addictive quality of playing the original and definitely feels like a true sequel. But it's usually when you're feeling comfortable that the capitalist pigs launch their attack. :D

The controls are a bit odd at first but after awhile I got used to them, and I've noticed that the graphics get a bit choppy in places, but those have been the only complaints I've found thus far. So I'm wondering, for those who have it, are there any reasons I shouldn't get this game? Whether something wrong with it as a whole or with the Xbox version?
'Ai! ai!' wailed Legolas. 'A Balrog! A Balrog is come!'
Gimli stared with wide eyes. 'Durin's Bane!' he cried, and letting his axe fall he covered his face.
'A Balrog,' muttered Gandalf. 'Now I understand.' He faltered and leaned heavily on his staff. 'What an evil fortune! And I am already weary.'

I've been dabbling with the PC version. Capitalist paradise ahoy - we make rum, cigars, oil and gold. And we have a rourism trade. But there is no need for you to visit that peninsula on the West of hte island, ignore the guard towers at the isthmus and the faint wails of horror and pain coming from beyond and get back to your resort...

I played the PC demo to death despite my laptop barely running the game and then went and bought the whole thing.

If I could run the graphics on a zoomed in level properly? I'd do an LP here with Shroom as El Prez.

EB doesn't list it online at all. What the Christ?

Do they? I tried searching their website and the only Tropico stuff they have appears to be CDs.

JBs website is totally different to their retail stores. The online store has different products and pricing and in no way relates to what is available "in store."

As far as I'm concerned, store lookups on the Web site are just to grab a collection of phone numbers to call; heck, when I do store lookups at EB Games for items that we're sold out of, I tend to either double-check by calling the nearest store on the customer's behalf or advise them to make the call themselves.

Damn! No PS3 release? Not that I'm surprised, given how easy it is to port from XBox to Windows and back, but still, damn.

I want to get some PS3 games (all I've got is Street Fighter IV) and a fun little strategy game woulda' been great.
