Personality Types

Post by haas mark »

Now, this may go in SLAM, but I'm not particularly sure...

I am curious as to how everyone is, personality-disorder-wise. I know I'm bipolar, and that is.. not fun. I cycle through emotions faster than every other guy I know (every emotion in the book 3x in 36 hours) followed by a period of numbness after each cycle. I also have a mild case of obsessive-compulsive disorder.

And as a side question, how do some of these things happen about?

And what kinds of problems do YOU have?

Who knows...

Probably some obsessive complusive mixed in there with some other junk.

Not sure if this counts, but I am extremely empathetic and end up feeling other people's pain ALL THE GODDAMN TIME, even when I try to switch it off. Because of that, I tend to put myself towards the back and put other people and their wants/needs ahead of mine. I know I can deal with my own pain, but usually the people who come to me can't deal with theirs.

It's not exactly a psychological problem, but sometimes the repercussions of it are rather similar.

Hapsburger's Syndrome. When I was young, it was misdiagnosed as ADD and I took two Ritalin pills a day for it.

Explains a lot, doesn't it?

Since no shrink has ever told me I have problems (though maybe because I never went to one), I must be completely healthy!

"Mildly" bi-polar (Ok, I have a lunar cyclic streak that's fairly strong, but not bi polar enough to present a danger to my self or others)

I like everyone I meet. Everyone. I am sort of an opposite misanthrope. The worst thought I have ever felt towards someone is a sort of distasteful pity. I wonder if there is a word for that?

I've been diagnosed with ADHD, a disorder in which I believe is utter horse shit made up so that pill companies can make money. I've been told I'm bi-polar because I get very moody sometimes. I took Prozac for many years, stopped for a couple, now I'm taking them for my anxiety attacks. I get deeply disturbed and paranoid over silly things sometimes, as a result of my anxiety.

Since so many people are diagnosed with mental problems, I think that most of them are only attempts to put labels on people, like ADHD or having just plain bad moods.

I'm severly depressive, too. Though I try to always get over it by sheer will than take a pill and cheat my way out. Even though I'm not depressed right now, I still don't see what's so bad about suicide. :P
