First Look at SGU Season 1.5

Post by JME2 »

Gateworld has posted Sy Fy's first promo for the second half of SGU's inaugural season. It's quick, but it looks like a nice taste of things to come.

"Sorry, first space battle here!"

All Right! Looks like we finally get to see some action. I was practically bored to tears by the first half of the season.

The first half was admitted slow in some parts, but I'm really curious to see that character build-up play into 1.5.

Nice to see that Michael Shanks has at least a cameo appearance. I don't think I've seen him since he did some things in Burn Notice

He was on Smallville recently, playing Hawkman.

I'm sorry, but "Season 1.5" is a fucking stupid name for the second half of the season.

And we don't have to use that name. So using that name for the thread title is idiotic to begin with.

I feel too lazy to correct someone else's stupidity.

Man maybe someone can correct your stupidity for wasting 5 posts impotently whining and gas bagging about pointless shit.

On topic was anyone able to tell what those ships in the battle were? It *kinda* maybe looked like I saw the back of an Alkesh.

I really hope not. Those space gangsters always came off as lame villains.
A scientist once gave a public lecture on astronomy. He described how the Earth orbits around the sun and how the sun, in turn, orbits around the centre of a vast collection of stars called our galaxy.

At the end of the lecture, a little old lady at the back of the room got up and said: 'What you have told us is rubbish. The world is really a flat plate supported on the back of a giant tortoise.

The scientist gave a superior smile before replying, 'What is the tortoise standing on?'

'You're very clever, young man, very clever,' said the old lady. 'But it's turtles all the way down.'

I'm pretty sure that the other ship in the fight was whatever the hell was following them in the first half of the season.

Spoiler
I was surprised to see them (assuming of course it was the Lucian Alliance) pop up in the pilot; all signs in SG-1's last season pointed to the organization falling apart, but it looks like they got their act together in the aftermath of the Ori Crusade. And given that they could engage the Hammond, they might have grown some muscle and fangs at last

This is much better than the Lucian alliance.

oh, the ship might not be Lucien, Spoiler
but there is an Alliance spy on board the Destiny. They (or she) will be involved somehow.

Seems like Rush is back as well, which should be fun. Was obvious he would be coming back, but it'll be fun to watch that episode when it comes around.

They were created in the chaos that followed the Goauld defeat, it makes sense that they would have similarly good growth prospects after the next big bad empire gets defeated.

I think he'll just say something like "That's right, I'm back. I was sent on a mission and he told you I was dead so you wouldn't get your hopes up." Lots more tension on board though.

I have an inkling that Rush will just become the series' recurring antagonist.

Yeah. As it stands, Rush will probably blackmail Young -- though that's a dangerous game considering how his attempt to frame Young backfired.

This is Stargate. Be thankful they weren't humans.

1:06 - 'She is in command' - I'm guessing its either going to be the IOA lady or the medic.

1:10 - Telford looking beat up saying 'your all in danger, they are coming'. I can only suspect its going to be Lucian Alliance at this point because Telford wouldnt need to warn them about something coming otherwise. Although, that kinda begs the question of where the Lucian Alliance have managed to come up with power sources / drives that allow them to reach the Destiny.

1:16 - Some unknown woman, Lucian Alliance perhaps.

1:18 - Some poor SOB got hurled out of the gate, I just like the look of that effect :)

1:22 - Oh lookie, Eli is going to get some action with Chloe.

The rest of it is just useless drivel typical of a trailer and what little is there is useless without context. At best it looks like some more flashy action including some X304s on the hometurf. Since there is almost nothing new on the horizon worth watching I guess this will do but this trailer indicates the writers are focusing on Chloe as a selling point which does not impress me.
