TSA Airport screener arrested after rampage.....
http://www.cnn.com/2002/LAW/08/13/scree ... index.html
HOUSTON, Texas (CNN) -- An airport screener who is a registered sex offender faces life in prison after a weekend rampage in which he fired shots throughout his apartment complex and then set fire to one of the buildings, officials said.
Nathaniel Lee Kewanyama, 22, screened passengers at Hobby Airport. He was employed by Max Aero, a Houston- based airport security company contracted to do business at Hobby.
Early Sunday, police said, Kewanyama entered his apartment in southeast Houston and found three people inside. Police would not identify who they were or how they got to be there.
Police said the people told Kewanyama to leave, but he came back a short while later "fully armed" with a number of weapons, including an AR-15 semi- automatic rifle.
"He fired dozens of rounds," said Houston Police spokesman John Cannon. "It's a miracle no one was shot."
When police began arriving at the complex, Kewanyama barricaded himself in another apartment and set fire to it to keep police away. Police then arrested Kewanyama, who was shirtless and had a tattoo of a woman on his chest.
He was charged with one count of arson and three counts of burglary with attempted aggravated assault. The burglary charges are felonies and each carry up to 99 years in prison.

I think that simply means that were ever he lived required sex offenders to register with the local police, thus putting it on what's often public record for all to see.Asst. Asst. Lt. Cmdr. Ah, but in Minnesota there are lots of deer and various types of birds to be shot by hunters. It's possible that the hunters could use the same gun for everything but where's the fun in that. Multiple guns means you need a place to store them (gun rack), although these days the smart and responsible gun enthusiast has a gun safe to lock his/her guns in. It's much better if there are children who might be around and it makes it difficult for the guns to be stolen as well.

You should see the West Virginia Wal-Marts!
Or god forbid, an entire shed full of firearms row after row of them
in a barn in Virginia near my dad's house.

Mind you, even up here in relatively pacifist Canada, I've seen similar racks at the local sporting-goods store.
The biggest difference is that you need to go through a lot more red tape in order to get the guns. In the US, it is popular to argue that guns should be immediately available as an impulse purchase, like potato chips.

First, you must fill out Form 4473, and then the Federal Firearms
Licensee must call the National Instant Check System.
If NICS is down, you're fucked, and you must then wait. And then of course,
your mileage may vary according to your State. Kalifornicating is notorious
for it's red tape.

I thought you could buy them with no red tape at all from gun shows. Wasn't this one of the loopholes people were talking about?MKSheppard wrote:You can't impulse buy them here in the US.

Diffrent Stats have diffrent Laws Concering Gun-Shows

Some states have one day or as long as two week waiting periods to prevent *crimes of pasion that even if the NICS is up and running once you buy the gun you can't pick it up until after the elapsed Period.

*sigh*Darth Wong wrote: I thought you could buy them with no red tape at all from gun shows. Wasn't this one of the loopholes people were talking about?
Yet another mind corrupted by propaganda.
I tried to buy a MAK-90 once at a gunshow. According to the press, I should
have been able to walk away with this mean sucker over my shoulder:
The Guy selling it behind the table says: "Sorry, can't do that. You're
not 21, and there's a waiting period for "assault rifles" in maryland."
See, if you want a table at a gunshow, you have to go get a permit
from the person who runs the show, and in order to do that in most
cases, you need a Federal Firearms License. All guns sold through
a FFL dealer have to be put on paper through the Form 4473s, and
they must go through the National Instant Background Check System.
What the anti-gun forces want to do is to do away with PRIVATE sales
completely.
See, according to the ATF, if you sell less than six guns a YEAR, you
qualify as a private collector, and you don't have to go through
the 4473 filling out and the background check if you decided to sell
your old Hunting rifle or what-have-you-not to your friend.
EDIT: "Closing the Gun-Show loophole" would make private sales
illegal, and it would mean that if you wanted to give your cheap
$60 dollar beater to a friend, etc, you'd have to go through all the
hassle of the NICS.
NICS is sometimes up, and sometimes it's down. Everyone at a Gun Show
FUCKING HATES it when NICS goes down, because when it's down, the
"waiting period" goes into effect, and that means you cannot leave with
any firearms. You have to pay for the gun, and then pick it up from the
dealer's store on Monday, and the dealer may live 100+ miles from you,
so it severely retards sales when it is down.
In some states, they charge a fee for running NICS. I forget which ones
though.....

NICS is annoying as all hell. It's down more then half the time where I am. I've had to pass on some great deals because the system was down and the dealer was three hours drive away in a town I'd never heard of.
I guess I can live with only two AR-15's though..

Ok so it was the guns in the gunracks that bothered me, not the racks themselves. You see, in lil' ol' backwards sweden we dont see a lot of guns. Basically only cops have them. So to see rack upon rack of them displayed in the supermarket was more than a tad bit weird...Tsyroc wrote:Pendragon wrote:Minnesota....
