^ Nah, any sane DM would call that Evil (hence my use of Evil with a capital E, by default in 3E D&D Evil is a palpable force and committing that act would have stripped them of certain "Good" feats, spells, etc had they possessed them).

Especially because OotS (which is pretty much a D&D game without external reality...still, Rich Burlew is sort of like the "DM of that world) is obviously flogging the theme that goblins are people HARD. Hell, Redcloak is one of the best characters in the whole strip.

This is the guy they want to use to win over "young people?" Are they completely daft? I'd rather vote for a pile of shit than a Jesus freak social regressive.
Here's hoping that his political career goes down in flames and, hopefully, a hilarious gay sex scandal.

Therefore, the Resistance now has magical support (wizards).

That's not an intelligence item the resistance would like the Hobgoblins to have.

Seeing how the resistance could go from 'annoying' to 'Uber-Lich has decided to remove them as an issue'.
That doesn't work, due to Speak with Dead

Plus, they have a Paladin on hand. 'Detect Evil' Anyone. If he's good, you can keep him, if not Thanah will gut him.

Oh and 708 is up That was quick.

Edit: And that smack down is like ten times worse if you get the references to Start Of Darkness. At least you didn't have to do it yourself this time Wrong-Eye. Plus, Team Evil knows about the elves now, so the hobgoblin killing really was needless in the last strip.

Man, that Mystic Theurge chick is fucked up something serious.

That's crazy on all sorts of levels.

I think I'll steal her basic concept for my Greyhawk Campaign....

I'm really enjoying Tsukiko. She has, as you say, got issues.

I particularly like the strip where she gives a Wight Thanh's shoes.

There's a reason they pointedly felt no need to tell the paladin...

Hmm, Monster in the Darkness is pretty susceptible to suggestion, I wonder if Tsukiko comments will make him stop liking O-chul?

Not so much suggestion.

I think he gave up on O'chuul for now because of the cloister, not because of Lady-Psycho.

And interesting she was given the DIVINE half of the ritual. Maybe our favourite Uber-lich is preparing for a possible 'don't need Red Cloak anymore' moment?

That, or he wants to be sure just what it does...and he won't be happy if studying the divine half lets Necro-Girl figure out what the spell actually does in detail.
Spoiler
He's not putting out all this effort just to hand control of the gate to Redcloak's god the Dark One. And I expect quite the temper tantrum if he finds out that was the plan all along.

Now is Tsukiki going to realised that she may not need either of the others to perform the ritual; since she 'does both' but maybe she's not got enough levels to do it all herself.

Actually....
Spoiler
I don't see why Xykon and Red Cloak/The Dark One can't both use the Gate.

First, they use it for the Dark One's purposes. Goblinoids now are a major race on the level of humans. (Ironically, the founding of Gobotopia might just do that anyway.

Second, Xykon and his Goblin allies use it to take over the world. Goblinoids are now THE major race in control, and Xykon is at the top of the Goblinoid power structure beside Red-cloak.

Everyone wins.

Hmm. I don't really call the cloister spell; obscure plot minutiae, its like a major plot point in V's Arc.

Anyway, back on topic.... I'm actually surprised Haley didn't do something a little more, oh, suited to the situation. Like knock the crap out of them and take their supplies for resale elsewhere.

Depends on how much time was wasted. They appear to have deliberately lied to her too.

That earns a minor ass-whupping and some product removal, IMHO. I'm not saying she should kill them, or sell them into slavery (unlike one group of PCs I DMd for once.....) or anything, but knocking some sense into them (i.e: Don't try to con a PC) is more then called for.
