Transformers 3, starring John Malkovich

Post by Vympel »

Heh.
Hey, it's been a long time since I've posted. Just been a little busy.

Transformers 3 has been going very well. We are going to shoot in LA, Chicago, Washington DC, Florida, Texas, Africa, Moscow, and China. On the talent front, we just locked in Frances McDormand and John Malkovich. Both amazing actors I've always wanted to work with. We also just got Ken Jeong, he is the super funny actor stuck in the trunk from “Hangover” and the Doctor from “Knocked Up.”

We start shooting pre-shoots in about one month.

I also was at a Ferrari charity event this week raising money for a hospital being built by Ferrari in Haiti. I announced that night the newest Autobot to join Transformers: the Ferrari 458 Italia.

I also want to thank everyone on this site that donated to the Make -A-Wish charity. We raised $20,000 which I will personally be matching. This is a great charity where they make wishes come true for kids who are very ill. We have had many Kids from Make-A-Wish visit us on our Transformers sets and this time we will be posting video of their visits on Transformers 3.

LA? But they trashed that in the first movie already...

Don’t the autobots use their vehicle forms to move about with little attention? Nothing blends in like a Ferrari 458 Italia.

The Aubobots were rather loose with the whole 'blending in' concept in the second film. As was pretty much everyone else, for that matter.

I don’t remember it that well, who was that flashy?, aside from the guys who just need a big shell, the deceptions while not 'blending in' at least chose military and police vehicles (they could move into controlled areas with less suspicion)

Great. Just great. John Malkovich is a great actor, but now I get get out of my head the image of some Decepticon reading a letter in a high-pitched voice "My daddy's coming home on July 14th! My birthday's on July 14th! I'm gonna see my daddy for the first time on JULY 14th!" *spins around and holds up a giant plasma cannon* "MAKE A MOVE AND THE BUNNY DIES!"

True, but then one of the original G1 Autobots was a Lamborghini Countach, which weren't exactly subtle either. So it'll probably be him again (Sideswipe).

Sideswipe was in Revenge of the Fallen. He was the roller bladan robot with the two swords, and he was a Corvete Stingray.

Well, he is. Also, his toy looks very suspiciously Protoss to me...though those wheel-feet make posing him a bitch.

I will admit, he does have a tendency of falling flat on his face in my change piles, casting them everywhere. This is why Scorponok is my preferred guardian of the loose change repository in reality.

It is possible to get him stable if you have him lean back on those wheel-guard things just right - I've had him standing upright on my dresser for a few months. ...though I did just notice that he fell over sometime today.

For those who hated Revenge of the Fallen, Shia explains why
He said: "There are a lot of people that liked the second one, but I hated it. I just didn't enjoy it. "I thought we missed the mark. I got confused, I couldn't see what the f**k was going on, you know with certain robots... I couldn't decipher what was happening. There were storyline paths that I just wouldn't have gone down."

He added to FHM magazine: "I know that directors Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg are dedicated to making the best movie we possibly can, and we're not going to miss next time."

He said: "We were making our second movie in the middle of the writers' strike. We had no script. We had to work with nothing. We literally had like 40 pages. And everything was sort of made on the fly. But I think this time we will be more concise, and in a definite direction where we want to take it."
That pretty handily explains how they had egregious errors like the Air and Space Museum becoming the Boneyard ...

Good, because I kind've have a love/hate affair with the second film. When it came to my birthday last December, I had my brother offer to buy me a Blu-ray, and between RotF and Moon, well, the choice was obvious. I still got both eventually, but I can't say I love the second film as much as the first for various little niggles that mount up.

And yet you filmed and made millions anyway.
This is why Hollywood and the moviegoing public in general fail.

Oddly enough the thing I hated most about RoTF, was...well...Shia! I don't understand why they have to find contrived ways to bring him to the forefront so much.

What the third movie needs isn't so much of a script as an invincible Robo-pocalypse breaking out in a major city between two large armies while doom seems imminent on the horizon. If you're going to go as all out on special effects as Transformers does then go all the way.

-George Carlin (1937-2008)

"Have some of you Americans actually seen Football? Of course there are 0-0 draws but that doesn't make them any less exciting."
-Dr Roberts, with quite possibly the dumbest thing ever said in 10 years of SDNet.

That's the thing. There just didn't seem any real threat from the Decepticons. Only The Fallen really made out to be a major badass, and Optimus Jesus blew him away with one of the most awesome lines in cinema history.

When you fail to make Devastator act badass, you fail.

"It would be a nice example of the Human and the Autobots working together to accomplish what neither side could do alone, and would give Devastator the dignity of being a formidable opponent, rather than a lumbering oaf who bumbles around a quarry, fails to eat Mudflap and then falls off a pyramid."

I rate RotF a solid 3/5 stars. I originally rated it more, but in retrospect and on second viewing its flaws were more obvious. I still find it highly entertaining, even though its very low brow and badly written - the rail gun is just one example, but yeah it was a pretty stupid DEM.

RotF is easily one of the best Blu-Rays I own. The IMAX version of the forest fight is just ... orgasm for the eyes.

I agree with that...and dying in battle might have actually made the twins halfway-worthwhile characters, in retrospect.
The only thing about the second movie that was an unmitigated success was Sideswipe. Damn, he's good.

I didn't think ROTF was the train wreck that the critics said it was, but it was a step down from the first movie. IMO, the problems were with the new characters they added. The Ghetto twins were two of the worst characters I've seen in years. Sam's roomate was an annoying douchebag. The fembot Decepticon also rubbed me the wrong way; I couldn't believe that this hot babe would just throw herself at Sam like that even as he was acting like a total freak. Sure, she was eventually revealed to be a Decepticon (with no prior set up), but at that point I already had to sit through a bunch of bullshit with her that seemed like a set up for some manufactured drama between Sam and his girlfriend. Sam's mom getting high, and his pervert professor, also seemed pointless. It was like the movie couldn't resist going off track to make bad, drawn out jokes. It got better once all that bullshit subsided and the movie just focused on making things blow up.

i kind of guessed she was the decepticon. For all it's flaws, I can't bring myself to hate the movie due to the fact that it was essentially my birthday present. It was still kind of weak.
