Just get the right pattern and a sewing machine. I didnt have much experience sewing either, but i maaged. It isnt that hard to do.

There were people trying to wear Jedi robes when I went to see Phantom Menace. They looked more like The Big Lubouski.

I know a Goth who used to wear a big, black cloak instead of a coat. She had one of her friends, who was a LARPer, make it for her. It wasn't a full robe, but it looked cool enough anyway. She doesn't wear it so much nowadays.
