Hey, Valdemar is NOT RogueIce.Stark wrote:This has been happening ever since Valve used HL2 to create an instant user pool for steam. This is a major reason why I generally buy steamed games on console, because steam is a horrible piece of crap that Valve doesn't fix because a) they don't care and b) they're incompetent. The only reason I even HAVE steam is because the jackass that made Audiosurf sold out.Valdemar wrote:But apparently now Steam will come with games, even if you buy it in a store.
Not defending him. Just pointing it out because it hasn't been mentioned in the thread yet.Stark wrote:Oh I know; I'm with Internode. Doesn't make shadowtryhard any less retarded.GuppyShark wrote:You can get unlimited Steam bandwidth from some ISPs (cough Internode cough).

Hey, I was asking, jackass. I don't know, so how about you stop shoveling shit at my head and actually explain it to me instead of being a douchenozzle at me.Stark wrote:Oh I know; I'm with Internode. Or? You could look it up yourself. On the internet. Instead of letting the prickly Aussie get under your extremely thin skin.ShadowDragon8685 wrote:Hey, I was asking, jackass. It's imposible to get. Well to be honest you can get it if you are willing to pay in excess of +$3000 AUD per month for a 4mbit connection.ShadowDragon8685 wrote:Is unlimited bandwidth really that hard to get in Austrailia?
Aaah, I seee. Thank you.Xon wrote:It's imposible to get. Well to be honest you can get it if you are willing to pay in excess of +$3000 AUD per month for a 4mbit connection.ShadowDragon8685 wrote:Is unlimited bandwidth really that hard to get in Austrailia?
Some ISP do have steam and xboxlive content in free zones, but it is quite hit and miss on what is there because it generally isn't all of the content from those platforms.

I always wondered about that. It seems to me that the best solution to the cable/phone internet duopoly would be to have community-owned fiber in the last mile, then let any company hook up to the source and provide the reciever box to the customer. Something like that would actually have been great to include in the Stimulus.phongn wrote:Uh, what's wrong with using PON? It certainly has enough bandwidth to work with and it meshes nicely with DWDM. As for unbundling - I don't see how that changes things, either. Sure, the last-mile is relatively fixed but you can change the uplink at the CO.
(Disclaimer: I once worked for Verizon, which is in the midst of deploying GPON).

Excuse me?Stark wrote:Oh jesus christ. A giant country with fuck-all people and bugger-all pipes coming in, and you wonder why it's not like the US which is smaller, has far more people, and actually contains most of the content people want?
I pointed out a factual error in your post. How is that not contributing? Don't get pissy just because you screwed something up.Stark wrote:Turns out Alaska is 1,600,000 kilometers? Not that you contributed anything, lol.
You absurd, brainless cretin, your post didn't answer anything even close to my question - though Xon's post has a good point. And if you are too dense to realize "Oh, I goofed on one point", then that's your problem, not mine. One more thing, you egotistical fruitcake - you didn't say "Continental United States", you said "US".Stark wrote:Are you retarded? The term 'continental united states' exists for a reason. It's hilarious you ask a question that the quote you nitpicked already answered. I'm sorry you're a retard but it just isn't my problem.
It's worth noting that aside from lag it isn't even bad enough for normal people to complain about, and really only gamers care about lag. It's hardly a pressing issue crushing the nation, and there are pretty obvious reasons why the situation exists.
I'm sure there have been successfull PON rollouts, but frankly the proposed national broadband network(NBN) is being baddly missmanaged.phongn wrote:Uh, what's wrong with using PON?
