The Life Grip thing probably won't see too many changes, if any, if they restrict its use to raid members.

The Blinding Shield thing is slightly different since it is an AoE CC that, if Protection, is instant. Retribution can't use it, since it requires shields. Holy has a cast time, so it can be interrupted. But for Protection Paladins it will just be stupid in PvP.

Though not quite as stupid as the planned Warrior talent where disarms cause the opponent to cower for 10 seconds. That part of the preview looked like someone accidentally spilled Kalgan's wet dream on it. Its "Please Nerf Me" sign can be read from space.

Actually that is Kuja's thoughts on why it would get nerfed. Some asshole does it to grief the party/raid, wipes raid, laughs. Hell, you can see it in any PuG.

This ability screams overpowered by the fact it stuns an opponent longer then any other ability and is on a one minute (minimal) refresh. Of anything they said in the warrior preview, this was the most insane. If this makes it live, it'll get nerfed harder then Juggernaut ever was.

Personally, I would prefer less CC like poly, stuns and fears, and more "CC" like the rogue smoke cloud, hunter camo and mage frost wall. Stuff that doesn't remove control of the other person's character, but limits their avenues of attacks or gives the defender a temporary "home field" advantage. The rogue smoke forces ranged to either try to melee or wait (or use inefficient aoe), the fog wall gives those melee mages hate a disadvantage if they don't go around it, and the hunter camo seems to work in a similar way to rogue smoke, limiting avenues of attack.

Cataclysm does seem to be shaping up into the pvp expansion, where WotLK was the pve.

Holy shit, this is hilarious.

Blizz has added a flying mount to their store. It's some sort of armoured pegasus thing. Costs 25 bucks, and is accessible to all characters on your account. No big deal, right?

Not according to the forums! They're so full of nerd rage right now. They make is sound like this is some sort of evil act that will destroy WoW forever.

Some random quotes from just one thread on the official forums:
Selling in-game pets was bad enough, but now in-game mounts as well? When is it going to stop? Some people argue that it is only a cosmetic item and that is certainly true. That doesn't however make it correct. No item should be accessible to players because of real life money. Doesn't matter if it is an in game shirt, a dance, a pet, a mount, tabard or extra emotes. When a company that is free to play does that it is somewhat understandable because it is their only source of revenue. When a company that already charges people a monthly fee to play a game does this it is obvious that they no longer care about making their customers happy and only wish to make a profit.
I guess you didn't read my post. I understand that completely. I never said it wasn't a vanity item. What I said was that World of Warcraft has been a successful game largely in part to the reputation and standards set by Blizzard. It has always been a game where RL money never provided anybody with any benefits (vanity items included). It is not obvious that Blizzard has just become another money hungry corporation willing to alienate a large portion of players that don't want to spend rl money on in game items.

I don't think you realize how big of a step Blizzard is taking by doing this. It's completely changing them as a company.
They probably used the 15$ you pay monthly to make this mount, but you don't get one unless you give them 25$ more.

This is a very bad trend, you aren't just buying a shiny mount, you're supporting something that will affect everyone playing this game in a negative way in the future.
In the short term this was a great business decision. I am sure Blizzard is rolling in cash right about now and can barely keep the records straight on all the money they've just made. In the long term not so much. Myself and many people I know (just go to your servers trade chat) just lost A LOT of respect for Blizzard. Of course now that it is obvious that they just care about money I am sure that they don't care who respects them or not.
Blizzard is definitely destroying their own reputation at this point. I used to love them more than any other video game company. Now I don't even plan to buy SC2 or Diablo 3 simply because I hate Blizzard. I just resubbed yesterday after a break and after seeing this mount for sale I wish I hadn't.
And that's just from the first three pages of that thread.

Shit, I'd drop twenty-five on a flier that awesome looking if I had a sub open right now. My Warlock needs a cool mount, and my Paladin? Yeah, I've got cool mounts, but a tankadin riding a goddamned glowing spectral Pegasus? Hell yes.

When I saw the mount for sale, I was chatting with a guildie over the phone while doing work. As he ranted a bit I asked "C'mon...it's easier to get then Arthas' fucked mount and less pain. Besides you got a flying head as well.".

Really, if it gets the nerd rage this high, I am laughing a bit. No one cares unless you have a mount that is virtually unique. Hell, my Malygos drake gets me more whispers then anything I have other then the Phoenix. Now 4 shards away from Shadowmourne, I am thinking of selling that Crimson Mount just to see what I can get as a bid on the AH(well, that is if it is still BoE).

I thought the same tbh, i'm likely a long LONG way off getting the Arthas mount, so buying this is the next best thing. I brought it, because it's a cool looking mount, and it scales with my riding skill (yay no more needing to mount and dismount loads). Looks pretty good with shadowform on spriests too, although it's kinda silly on my main (Tauren Druid) but then all druids look stupid on horses.
I used to get tons of whispers back in TBC because I was the only Tauren on the server to have Rivendare's Deathcharger (this was before the class restrictions on undead mounts were removed, and it had a miniscule drop rate, so it was the rarest of the rare), and my guild was the only one on the server to get the mounts from Naxx 10/25, and first to get the Ulduar mounts. I've already got the 100 mounts achievement on 2 characters, and this just helped me work towards it on a third. It's a decent way to spend £17, i've wasted it on far worse things in the past.

Our ret pally got Shadowmourne on Wednesday (i'm EU, so that's our first raiding day), and I gotta say I absolutely love the proc effect, it's the coolest looking effect since Blizzard nerfed the shit out of the Val'anyr graphic (it looked way different, and way better at first). The mount from Arthas is BoE, and i've seen some threads on various forums offering it for like 150k gold, and apparently a few people have paid out - since it's not uncommon for a lot of people to be gold capped these days (hell I barely try and i'm at 160k gold).

On another note as well, we've been working through the meta for 10man drakes in ICC, and holy fuck are some of those achievements complete pains in the fucking hole. We did Full House and the Sindragosa one last night as the last parts, and holy fuck are they RNG shitfests.

Dude if you're talking 'bout Mounts I wish they'd release a Frostwyrm and Armored Frostwyrm Mount that didn't require me to be in the most 1337 PvP Team. My female BE DK would look awesome riding it.

You can get Frostwyrm mounts outside of PvP. You just have to be in a leet raid group instead of a leet arena team. They are rewards for the ICC raider meta.

Find a good raid when the buff hits 30% :P .

Well only half joking given we do it for Ironbound. But not for Nubbins. Why? Ulduar is somewhat tiresome on parts. 50 - 50 for Heroic Nubbins is fucking bullshit if anyone screws it. Sure it is easier with the gear, but fucking tiresome to have it fuck it for the raid. In fact we only go there because the trinkets are still fucking awesome.

Though I agree with mini. Getting the Meta is fucking obnoxious now.

We do it occasionally for the 10man (on alts usually, and we roflstomp the place easily with a group that's done it plenty) and we have sold 25man mounts in the past, usually we just say to the guy buying the mount 'go die somewhere alone, don't fuck up and get anyone else killed' - bit harsh, but for most boss fights he isn't needed, especially at this gear level. Hell, we went into ToTC heroic, didn't interrupt a shield on Twins, and still dpsed her down, through another wrong colour shield (yes we use the door tactic). Ulduar at this point is stupidly easy, as long as people know what they're doing. Someone can still fuck up Vezax by being a moron, or get people killed on Thorim.

I was actually looking through the meta achievements for Ulduar and ICC, and there is a huge difference. Just look at the Ulduar achievements, and each one is achievable very easily - none of them require retarded levels of RNG to actually work and be done, all of them are achievable with the right level of raid co-ordination and set up. Most of the fucking ICC ones are retarded. I gave 2 examples in my above post, Full House is obnoxious as hell, since it requires you literally sitting around waiting for the right spawns to come along, then you've got to actually get the boss down.
The Sindragosa achievement is horrible, Rotface requires some creative abuse of game mechanics to avoid the oozes exploding. Most of them just mean RNG.

LOL, yes on Thorim, Vezax and hell even Yoggy. It fucking amazes me how fucking dumb it can get. And nothing harsh, after having someone do something royally stupid on the burrow phase we tell them the same thing. They think it's too much, I or another officer will make the note "You want the mount, this gets you the mount. Deal."

Jesus fuck yes. I despised Full House. No really...what the goddamn titty fucking christ were they thinking? It's a RNG mixed with endurance. Rotface took us a long time of "Okay, burn...run with ooze...BURN FASTER.". Sindragosa is something we are attempting but I hear people going "What the ...We have to do what?!".

Cataclysm - Raids & Dungeons
Q: Can you make crowd control in raids and 5-mans an important aspect of the PvE game again?
A: An emphatic yes.
This can be considered good or bad.

Good: No longer taking 5 DPS into a heroic and raping it faster then a traditional manner.

Bad: You tell me how many of you will use random dungeons if it requires even ONE CC member.

I won't even comment on raids because I despise how they make trash longer then it should by stupid patrol designs and the need for CC when advocationg AoE at the same time. Ulduar trash had some serious BS issues in those departments early on.
Q: With more players raiding in Wrath of the Lich King than ever before, do you plan to raise the difficulty to accommodate our new skill/experience?
A: The heroic difficulty is designed for the players looking for more of a challenge. One of the things we learned from Icecrown is that we unlocked the heroic modes so late that players had tons of practice on the encounters on normal mode, so the step up was smaller than it was in say Ulduar when players on hard mode were still learning some of the encounter basics. (In our defense though, because of the time of year we released Icecrown we made a conscious decision to not ask players to choose between holiday events and hard-mode raiding.)
Heroic really only worked in Ulduar you fucking idiots. When the players have to activate something by the fact the raid can work in that manner is why it worked. That and you made the players force new mechanics that they never prepared for. Not add XXXX amount of HP or XXXX extra damage on tank.

Both ICC and ToC heroic were "More HP, more raid wide damage that you've all seen" . The only two difficult hard modes? Putricide and the Lich King being well done. They actually had new mechanics that couldn't be sidestepped by going "Burn faster" or "Move left". But then again? THEY WERE WELL DONE IN NORMAL MODE, DIPSHITS.

Practice...yeah.
Q: Any plans to give Fury Warriors more hit from precision or another talent due to the removal of Heroic Strike as"next weapon" hit?
A: Part of the problem is that Fury warriors undervalue hit as it is because of the way Heroic Strike works today. We’ll make sure they do appropriate damage with the new model, but that probably won’t be with a talent that says “I don’t have to worry about getting hit for my gear.”
Oh and I love that they picked a question that is essentially cherry picking, since Heroic Strike is a yellow hit, thus relying on their soft cap. To the second part?

BULLSHIT. Warriors undervalue hit because BLIZZARD MADE THE SOFT CAP TO HIT AT EIGHT MOTHERFUCKING PERCENT. So ...umm gee whiz we want gear to favor other stats because we can't reach Rogue levels without nerfing ourselves because you made us rely on YOUR SOFT CAP. So which is it Blizzard? Makes us rogues with Shadowmourne or not?

Jesus fucking Christ, FIVE YEARS screaming at these fuckers with analysis from their own goddamn data and they pull this?

Q: Will Protection Warriors have improved AoE tanking in Cataclysm?
A: We will make sure they don’t feel gimp compared to the other 3 tanks. We’re not going to give them an ability that they can just spam endlessly to maintain AE threat. We think Thunder Clap and Shockwave already work well for that. We want you to have to manage threat, but we don’t want it to be insanely hard to manage. (You also might be doing less AE tanking in Cataclysm overall.)
LMAO. No comment. Because what they believe and what is seen already shows someone thinks the sky is green.

At least the final comment isn't too bad to hear.

To further the stupidity of Hit undervalued by warriors? It's not. It is our number 1 stat to get capped. Ask any single person who does analysis on warriors and they will uniamously tell you to soft cap the stat for PvE. Why? Because of the very fact:

No Hit = 0 DPS, 0 rage.

This is what I find disgusting of that question.

1. It is a cherry pick. Heroic Strike's change is rotational. It has nothing to do with hit, unless they are changing it to the White Hit table of percentages. You are either at whatever soft cap they designate or not. And I am taking in consideration of changes they have claimed. If you are not at the soft cap, there will be issues that you will strive to correct.

2. Precision is a stop gap. At the highest gear, you may or may not need it because of RANDOM LOOT. Sometimes it favors you and you get that piece of loot(Like the 2 hander mace) that allows your hit to reach 8% soft cap or you don't. So you use this as a way to not gimp yourself. It is not taken to go "I R NOT NED HIT GEARZ! HERP DERP".

Thus the question choosing disgusts me because it's not only worded poorly, it is more poorly answered and in fact is done in a fashion as if talking to a five year old where babies come from.

Okay, I have to step in here, and BITCH-SLAP a melee for complaining about their hit cap. Fuck you guys, with your 8% soft-cap, and even more so for complaining about it. Try 17% on for size, see how you like it. Eight percent? Shit, I would have sucked cock for a cap that low when I was gearing my 'lock.

Note that is the 'soft' cap ie where specials don't miss. White hits work on an entirely different hit table, and for dual wielders is virtually unattainable, that's not even mentioning fury warriors with their 2x2handers (something like 34% IIRC).

17% really isn't hard as a lock, you get 3% hit right from talents, and most raids (yes even pug raids) will run with the 3% hit debuff from a spriest or a moonkin. Add in the fact that casters have a hit trinket that's easily obtainable (although it's not amazing, it's alright, especially with it's on-use haste) and that any cloth gear post Ulduar is absolutely slathered in hit, it's no problem hitting a cap.

What the fuck?

Did you the complaint? Every fucking class needs hit, but when the motherfucker cherry picks a goodamn question that is part of a Yellow Attack, and is problem of rotation I have a problem that his motherfucking answer is
Part of the problem is that Fury warriors undervalue hit as it is because of the way Heroic Strike works today.
THIS?

That is akin to saying "Priests undervalue hit because the way Circle of Healing works. It's not only a dodge but completely fucking wrong. Heroic Strike deprives Arms completely of an rage generated attack and Fury to rely upon our off hand...which is on a 27% hit table.

and his second part is
We’ll make sure they do appropriate damage with the new model, but that probably won’t be with a talent that says “I don’t have to worry about getting hit for my gear.”
Which is unmitgated bullshit. Warriors have a 3% fucking talent. And no talent in the fury tree mitgates the second melee only bullshit miss ability. So yes, my complaint is to the motherfucking bullshit answer and not some goddamn offhand point in which you think I was going "But we have to reach 8%!!!!". I was complaining to fact the motherfucker got the first part wrong and the second is a grade A anecdotal bullshit.

and if you're attacking this part:
The point is simple. At raid level we hit the soft cap to not fucking gimp our gear. We use a talent to give us a stopgap in case gear is not there. I don't hear any fucking clothie going "Damn need hit, going to gimp SP/INT!". Instead I hear "Fuck, I don't need more hit.".

The more I read about the healing changes, the more I worry. Some players were expecting a return of the 5 second rule almost, where we managed our mana by having smart rotations and managing our heals, but GC has clarified this. There will be virtually no mana management, the 5 second rule is gone, there is no downranking, we're still completely dependent on replenishment.
All that's going to change is essentially every healer is getting 3 main healing spells, then some fluff spells (Healing Hands for Paladins, Healing Rain for Shamans etc etc). We've got the fast small heal, the efficient heal, and the big inefficient heal, and we basically choose between them each time we press a key. Which means we'll just end up at the exact same place we are with Paladins now, eventually, mana pools and regen will get to a point, where a healer can ignore efficiency - example is Paladins, once you're at a certain gear level, you can just spam Holy Light and be damned the mana cost.
This'll happen maybe, the more likely thing is, come the second tier of raiding, Blizzard will absolutely butt fuck healers and nerf the ever loving shit out of them.

Also I forsee HoTs getting a massive game breaking nerf. In a game where druids already get whined at on the forums near constantly, in both pve and pvp - when cata comes and it's not unusual to see players spending a lot of time missing health, HoTs will become even more powerful, and the whine machine will start up again.

I am currently in love with their half assed backpedalling with Warrior AoE tanking. It reads like a 16 year old talking about fucking after they just did it for the first time. Really, just either make an ability that can AoE effectively in which the warrior can use HOLD THREAT(which is still dependant on the fact that DPS doesn't go fucking dumb) or admit that warriors are shit in the field. I know some warriors are screeching for Paladin level, and to be honest? That will never happen, but DKs? and fuck...Druids can do better because warriors have to pray CLEAVE(glyphed) and tabbing are fast enough. Wait, isn't that dependant on our ultra shitty damage and doesn't have the modifier that Heroic Strike has?!! Hmmm....

Though I got a good laugh of this :
I used Intimidating Shout a lot tanking heroic Shattered Halls on my warrior. If you took it off your bar, I'm not sure how you got through that dungeon
Think about it. He's telling warriors to FEAR enemies...in the most crowded heroic dungeon they made. Shadow Labyrinth was possibly worse but wasn't as tiny. Remember this was one of the few dungeon that needed you to CC constantly or you were fucked. Well Paladins did nicely because they had a constant AoE, but warriors and druids were fucked.

Even if he's refering to Challenging Shout? Remember children it was on a...TEN MINUTE COOLDOWN. Yeah, this is why I am looking at the expansion with laughs. Fix shit...lol...yeah.

Hmm, well Ret's getting an interrupt at least... remains to be seen whether it'll be a Mind Freeze clone or whether they screw it up (1min CD, uses GCD, that kind of rubbish). Divine Storm doing less damage means even less nuke damage for PvP, oh and losing Cleanse for magic = free HK for anyone who can kite a 115% speed target  .

Oh well, I can hope.

BULLSHIT did he ever tank Shattered Halls, at least not until it was nerfed. Shattered Halls was one of the most demoralising expriences for any group in early TBC. It had mobs that could literally one shot a kara geared tank, and then it'd put 2 of these mobs together. Common practice was just to ranged pull one and then frantically kite, burning it down before the other one reached the tank and nuked him. Fearing in SH, god that made me laugh my ass off. You got through that dungeon by hoping and praying, and taking enough CC to crowd control 95% of the mobs.

I know how cliche it sounds, but you do have to wonder how much the devs do actually play the game, since most of the stuff they come out with (especially regarding high end raiding, tanking and healing) is lols worthy.

And don't be too quick to call for an interrupt like Mind Freeze. We've gone through the entire Wrath expansion with Blizzard point blank refusing to acknowledge that Mind Freeze lags - and we're not talking tiny lag, we're talking 0.5 seconds of lag from pressing the button to the interrupt actually happening. Blizzard has literally come out and stated that this isn't the case, despite every high rated DK, despite every high end raider (especially during the days of Vezax hard mode) telling them differently.

Saw a preview for changes to raiding progression.

Here's what they plan to do:
1. Reduce difficulty gap between 10 and 25
2. 10 and 25 share a raid lockout
3. 10 and 25 drop same gear
4. 25 will drop more gear, gold, and badges per person (If a boss on 10 drops 2 pieces, the 25 version might drop 6+)
5. Gated raids will still exist, but limited attempts won't
6. Hardmodes activated by toggle (like ICC) instead of in-game actions (ie Ulduar)
7. Early raids will be balanced around wearing 85 dungeon blues
8. More patches will have multiple smaller raids as opposed to one big one (or, in the case of TOC, one small one)
