If that happened there probably WOULD be executions at the end of it all. We can only hope that it would be the rebelling soldiers at the end of the volley.Patrick Degan wrote:What would make it scary is if that soldier could convince others not to accept the results of a national election. Wait Flagg, how does a war of aggression relate to Obama being an allegedly illegal president? He didn't declare war on Afghanistan Bush started the ball rolling with his war on terror. Is the argument here that Obama continuing deployment is illegal, that anyone continuing it is illegal, or that such an action is somehow Obama's fault?Flagg wrote:War of aggression.General Schatten wrote:Can you define for me what constitutes an illegal war?Flagg wrote:It's called humor. And that's why they're addressing this right now. There are no direct orders from the President to this particular soldier, or he'd be screaming bloody murder about it I suspect. Instead he's just trying to make himself famous so he can get on the talk show circuit.Sarevok wrote:The scary thing is how can a soldier decide for himself who is the rightful president. Instead all he's going to get is a dishonorable discharge, and even for a doctor, that's going to look pretty gruesome on a resume.

IIRC a dishonorable discharge prevents the person from working for any place which does business with the federal government. He's going to have a fun time being a physician who can't work someplace that takes Medicare or Medicade.

Go further up the thread where we were talking about one Lt Watada and you'll see this:
If you still can't figure this shit out, then I don't know how to help you.Flagg wrote:Different situation. Watada believed a war he was being sent to was illegal (and there are some pretty good arguments on his side), not that the person giving the orders to deploy wasn't legitimately entitled to give said orders.Enforcer Talen wrote:Lt Watada did this a couple years back, saying the Iraq war was illegal. I guess it's a good sign the troops check their conscience?
That being said, I think the proper course of action in both cases would be to deploy while your court case against deploying for whatever reason was being heard. Except for the birther, he should be reassigned to "Operation Human Shield".
