Come on, this is easy. You just plug the USB Hairbraid into a fishthingy, put it on your face, and zomg, natural rebreather.

Just watch, that'll be exactly it.

Uh, I don't think they're going to set it entirely underwater. Who knows, there may be a Na'vi tribe that has adapted for ocean living.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if the next move reveals "Na'vi Merfolk" And jake gets "downloaded" from his current body it a brand new water breathing "Mer-Na'vi"

Who said that Na'Vi threw away their lungs for gills? It is possible that the Na'Vi adopted the same way they adapted those flying reptile things: they may have become ocean-dwelling by domesticating (for the lack of better word) a species that they can use. Something resembling dolphins perhaps?

Yeah. The above ideas are quite plausible in context of the avatar universe. It also makes sense for something like the Navi who were obviously engineered by an advanced aliens.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

Woah, woah, engineered? Are we invoking Cretinist arguments here?

Given that most of the stuff in Hell's gate was made on Pandora, they might have the blueprints for a submarine on file as "Better to have it and not need it" ways of looking at stuff. And they did say that some of the scientists were left behind at the end of Avatar.

Why are we assuming that the Na'vi will be doing everything themselves, as opposed to less, err... cockwad humans arriving and exploring the place?

Why is everybody assuming it will be the fucking "Abbyss: In Space!" ?

All that Cameron said was that he wanted to explore the oceans on Pandora ; The ways to incoporate ocean life into the story without actually having Gungans underwater Na'Vi are infinite. And since the project hasn't even started, the idea could change a hundred times before they even start penning the first draft of the script.

I was wondering about that, too. Was Earth destroyed in some alternate ending to the movie? There's more RDA ships on the way, and earth governments will probably still want the unobtainium. Plenty of opportunity to involve humans, and plenty of space for further conflict, too.

Given how popular the Na'vi are, do you honestly think they're going to do an Avatar sequel without them involved in a major way?

The RDA and Earth governments will be back. One does not cross interstellar space and just give up when some natives throw a tizzy. It didn't work in Africa with the Zulus, it isn't working here. Likewise, The Na'vi aren't going anywhere either, not when it was THEIR victory and the main protagonist is one of them now. Cameron is merely talking about further exploring Pandora, of which we only saw a small fraction. I don't see this being a problem, least of all seeing what they can do with marine flora and fauna.

For that matter, the Na'vi will be back for a very simple real world reason: money. Cameron himself commented that the plans for sequels were basically based on the ability to use the CGI libraries developed for the first movie, thereby saving a metric shitton of money. So expect to see Jake Sully and Neytiri again, wherever they go and whatever they do.

Why can't this be about the RDA launching a mining operation on the seabed in a shallow sea? That there are very very rich veins of Unobtanium there, comprable to Hometress, but its going to be a lot harder that far from Earth to mine that area -especailly if Unobtanium fracks up stuff badly- so they settled for ground open cut mining.

But given the events of AVATAR, RDA simply decided to go to Plan-B. Thinking that the Natives would be far less worried about mining on the far side of the planet in the ocean where they can't really see anything...but of course, they didn't reckon with the insanity of the Navi...

I like that. Jake Sully and the Na'vi going GREENPEACE/RAINBOW WARRIOR on the asses of the RDA who are now off-shore drill-mining with Bruce Willis. Then maybe, in lieu of this world-soul mother earth stuff, there can be an evil asteroid infested by an EVIL Eywa JENOHOVA and GEOSTIGMA that threatens to eat all of the unobtanium and kill Eywa's Lifestream, and it is up to Jake Sully - now riding a giant motorcycle, and wielding a huge ass sword - together with the RDA's space miners led by Bruce Willis in Space, to destroy the evil asteroid full of androgynous albino evil fake Na'vi with their own giant swords and one-wings!

RogueIce will love it.

Haha, you know they will do that though. It's a modern hollywood blockbuster, they'd think that would be an awesome idea! :P

In fact, I can just hear Cameron and a bunch of hollywood types sitting in a conference room brainstorming ideas for Avatar II, and one of them going "OMG, WOULD IT NOT BE TOTALLY AMAZING AND/OR AWESOME IF THEY RIDE DOLPHINS INTO BATTLE" to a general cry of "OMG YEAH, YOU ARE A F***ING GENIUS! THAT WOULD BE BAD ASS" and then all giving eachother high-fives.

For some reason I can't help but think that the title of this thread is implying that the movie is going to crash and burn... :P

I can't wait to see what is in Pandora's oceans, I'm kind of curious if the Na'avi are biologically unique to Pandora as to be the only remaining creatures with four limb, rather than six.
