One think I like about NoteTab is that it has an HTML conversion that doesn't put so much unneccesary junk like Word/Dreamweaver/etc. does.

Normal writing sometimes is done by hand then transffered to comp, or just flat out done in a proggie called TextPad.

Programming I do is done also in TextPAd. Paper and Lab writing is done in vile Word 2000 with just about all fo the auto-formatting turned off.

MS Word, NotePad, WordPad, a pen and paper, a pencil and paper.. Depends on where I'm at and what I have. If I'm transferring to comp, I'll add while on the comp. But if I'm writing, well, I'm writing.

Word and pen and paper. I used to use Wordperfect exclusively but when I brought my new comp last year it came with word and I satrted using it. It took awhile but now I like it.

Word, pen, pencil and paper. I only go for the comp after the outlines and ideias have been (more or less) settled down.

Anyone know if you can download a spell and or a grammar checker off the net. I use Wordpad off my Win 98 with no spell checker and my grammar is horrible.

Pencil and paper and then to WordPerfect. I have Word as well but I prefer WordPerfect.

Search for CWordPad. It's an upgraded version of the Win95 Wordpad, but includes a spellchecker.

I write all of my stories with a good pen/pencil and a notebook. I then do a second draft/re-edit on Word. Then I print it out, have my friends read it and I mark the heck out of it for changes. Then I will attempt to complete the story, but if I'm still not happy with it, I'll do a third or forth draft.

Pen and paper for the initial outlines then Word perfect for the writing portion. I use some CAD software to for some of the artwork too but most of that is on paper and I am using a scanner to put it into visial editor to clean it up and add text and other things to the Drawings.
see at my web site http://hometown.aol.com/bdbradbury/index.html some of my artwork.

I have found grammar checkers to be of questionable usefulness, particularly in a fanfic (most grammar checkers assume you are writing an essay, and will highlight far too much material which is actually acceptable in a story). The only real solution for bad grammar is to improve your grammar, rather than looking for software to do it for you.

I agree I have never found a Grammer check that was good for anything other than reports

I've found that grammar checkers can be useful, but only when you play around with the options to only check relatively minor things. No grammar checker I've ever used could match a single good proof reading pass.

I usually think the whole chapter out in my head, then when I have time, I pull up the chair and type away.

Actually thats pretty much what I do for reports and whatever, because I have some photographic memory. Its not perfect though. I had to pratice that skill because I'm hearing impaired, and during high school and college classes I couldn't focus on the interpreter and then look at the boards then down to a notebook to write down notes.

I don't have 4 eyes or 2 heads to do that. :P

If I actually go ahead and write my Romulan fan-fic, it'll be the first time I did any serious "on-line" internet fan-fics. My writing style may change for fan-fics. I guess everybody always learns new ways to do anything.

You don't have to use AOL's built-in crap browser. Just download Mozilla, install it, and you've got a far superior browser.

True, but they are very usefull for correcting spelling mistakes, like when typing fast, and SPECIALLY for keyboards with one language in mind (QWERTY for the english language), and typing in another language (portuguese)!

I usually first write something down on paper, and eventually copy it over to Word.
